Manufacturer's Description

New Apple iPod NanoRockalicious.
Colour isn't the only brilliant new iPod Nano feature. For those about to rock, we give you nine amazing colours. But that’s only part of the story. Feel the curved, all-aluminum and glass design and you won’t want to put iPod nano down. The accelerometer comes to iPod nano. Give it a shake to shuffle your music. Turn it sideways to view Cover Flow. And play games designed with your moves in mind. The new Genius feature turns iPod nano into your own highly intelligent, personal DJ. It creates playlists by finding songs in your library that go great together.

iPod Nano with Genius functionality

A musical Genius.

Say you’re listening to a song you really like and want to hear other tracks that go great with it. The Genius feature finds the songs in your music library that go great together and makes a Genius Playlist for you. It’s like having your own highly intelligent, personal DJ.

Shake to shuffle songs

Shake your groove thing.

Sometimes, we could all use a little unpredictability. And now you can shake to shuffle your music. Just give iPod nano a shake and it shuffles to a different song in your music library. You’ll always be surprised by what you’ll hear.

tilt or turn iPod Nano

Rock and roll over.

Tilt or turn iPod nano on its side, and you’ll listen, watch, and play in new ways. You can flip through your album art with Cover Flow. Or, vertically speaking, see more albums and artists on the screen at one time.

New games made for the new nano

Let the games begin.

Now you can get in on games made especially for iPod nano and the accelerometer. They respond to the way you move, so they’re immersive, addictive, and a blast. iPod nano comes with Maze, which lets you work your way through vast mazes by tilting and moving. You can find even more games on the iTunes Store.

Photos look great on the nano

Even your photos rock.

Pull hundreds of photos from your pocket and share them wherever you go. Hold iPod nano upright and see your photos in portrait view. Turn it on its side to see them in landscape. Your photos look beautiful in their proper aspect ratio on the vibrant, 320-by-240-resolution display

Watch films

World’s biggest small screen.

Watching movies, TV shows, and videos is big fun on iPod nano. And the high-resolution picture looks crisp and vivid on the 2-inch widescreen display. So you can always have a little video with you.

Find your music quickly

Find your music faster.

It’s even easier to find the song you want to hear. Now you can view your album art in Cover Flow. Or just press and hold the Center button to browse by album or artist. When you find the right song, press the Center button to add it to your on-the-go playlist.

5.0 out of 5 stars Very Happy, 29 Nov 2008

This nano has had some vast improvements from the first generation all those years back. The screen has enlarged, and is very good. The colours and clarity is exceptional for something this small. It is a lot thinner, less than 1cm, and has a nice curved shape. It has a new feature not before seen on the nano, let alone any ipod, and this is a shaking the ipod to change track. The genius software is very good and I find very useful and selects suitable matches for my music library. Also, new with this generation is the accelerometer built in. This allows you to turn the ipod on its side to watch video. The price is very good, but is still expensive for its capacity. However, this is made up for in superb free software that is very easy to use and master. Also, this is by far, the most accessory orrientated MP3/4 player. However saying this; some of the new generation ipods including this one don't work on old docking stations. You may want to be aware of this if you intend to use old accesories.

5.0 out of 5 stars Stylish, Neat & Compact, 17 Mar 2009

Bought this for my son's birthday. Was surprised how thin and small it is, but is very stylish and a great colour. Does exactly what it says it does. Very simple to download music/videos using the Apple itunes store, you may pay a bit more here but I have had to query a download in the past and they responded within 24hrs and reimbursed me - so I would say you are paying for a good service from Apple within the price. I had previously been told the earphones weren't up to much, but I think they are adequate. Would recommend buying a cover (not a skin) to keep it in to give added protection to the screen and case. Great buy - have asked for one for my birthday!

5.0 out of 5 stars Best music system ever, 29 Mar 2010

iPod is the best thing to happen to music ever, especally after living through walkmans (1 tape and chews it up) and discman (you couldn't walk with it wit skip and and scratch your CD).
It's got a very good size you can fit up to 1,200-1,400 songs/podcasts so more than enough for a very good music collection (at least your good stuff) and your favorite podcasts.
It's when you start putting photo's and films on there it starts getting really full, but that's not a problem with the ipod. You can fit a movie on ther and have enough room for at least a 1,000 songs/podcasts.
The picture is very good for your photo's and movies but don't expect it to be your next cinema but it's good for something to watch on a train/plane trip etc.
The battery is very good but can go fast(ish) if you keep the light going but it's not a problem (it can last for a quite a while), especally if you can recharge often (there gadgets to help you). As the previous reviewer said the colour is not to bright and is very good.
Final thought the iPod is the best music system (personal or otherwise, especally if it's got a docking bay) ever. You only need to go for a bigger size if you want something with a stupid amount of songs, podcasts, films, games etc.
The only choice left is which colour.
