Product Description

Manufacturer's Description

A thinner design. A brighter display. Up to 24 hours of battery life. Just about the only thing that hasn’t changed is the name. The 4GB iPod nano puts 1,000 songs in your pocket.(1)

Look like a rock star

Your music says a lot about you. So should your iPod nano. A super-slim design says you always have room for music — up to 1,000 songs, in fact. Durable anodized aluminum says you won’t let the rough and tumble of everyday life ruin your groove.

Carry a tune (or 1,000)

Choose a 4GB iPod nano and add a soundtrack to your life. Just use iTunes to import your CDs, shop for songs on the iTunes Store, then sync them to iPod nano. Possibly the world’s coolest photo album, iPod nano holds up to 12,500 snapshots.(2) iPod nano plays audiobooks and podcasts from the iTunes Store, too.

Play more encores
Imagine what you could do in a day. Fly around the world. Watch two sunsets. Listen to your iPod nano. Up to 24 hours of battery life(3) means the hits just keep on coming. Whether you’re exercising, commuting, or rocking a road trip, iPod nano may just outplay you.

Light up the stage

While it can't stop the rain, iPod nano might make your day a bit brighter. 40% brighter, to be exact. Album art pops and slideshows stun on the iPod nano’s dazzling display. That means everything looks as good as it sounds.

Go on tour

Add accessories and your music stays with you at home and on the go. Of course, iPod nano itself makes a great accessory. Wear up to 1,000 songs around your neck. Run with up to five days of skip-free music on your arm. iPod nano is the new black (and pink and blue and green and silver).

1. Song capacity based on 4 minutes per song and 128-Kbps AAC encoding; actual capacity varies by content. 1GB = 1 billion bytes; actual formatted capacity less.
2. Photo capacity based on iPod-viewable photos transferred from iTunes.
3. Up to 24 hours of battery life refers to music playback. Rechargeable batteries have a limited number of charge cycles and may eventually need to be replaced. Battery life and number of charge cycles vary by use and settings. See www.apple.com/batteries for more information.

Exquisite little gem 20 Nov 2006
I'm bowled over by this beautiful designed machine. Never had one before and didn't understand what all the fuss was about; now I know.

Before buying I kept an open mind and tried to find a player from any other company which could play the music better than the Apple; there isn't one.

Apart from the sound quality, which blew my socks off, (it's presence, precise sound stage and rhythm are amazing for something so cheap) I got to see just how perfectly the iTunes software compliments the player.

There's all sorts of misinformation put around about iTunes, such as only being able to use songs that you buy from the online store, which is complete nonsense. I can drop any sound file or CD into iTunes and have it copy the music in loads of formats - it automatically finds the track names, converts the music in a flash and enables me to browse the library by name, artist and genre.

What's more iTunes is free to download whether you have an iPod or not! I just wish I'd realised years ago so I could have made a start on converting all my CD's. Even if I'd never bought the ipod I could have saved the music, played it, or burnt it to CD as much as I wanted.

But apart from the quality and the software, there's one other thing which made the difference for me; it's just so simple to use. Not simple as in basic or idiot proof but simple as in effortless, transparent and clear sighted.

So, I guess you could say that I like it.

New Ipod Nano 16 Sep 2006
I have just bought the new ipod nano - its fantastic! comparing it to the old nano: it is much brighter and its true you can play music for much longer than on the previous ipods. It also has the ability to search for songs and artists, which is a new feature to the ipods.

And finally it is very well priced.

I ordered my new Nano on the day of release and it was delivered within 48 hours.

The best aspect of the new Nano is that it is made of Aluminum, which means like the iPod mini before it, its not going to be prone to the same "scratching" issues the the first generation iPod nano was. Apple has learnt from their mistakes.

The brighter display makes album art and photos stand out even more, and still the battery lasts for 24 hours, though saying that, to get 24 hours of continual playback you would need to put the nano on hold to prevent the display turning on, as the display drains the battery. Even with the display on, you can get around 5 hours of slideshows with music.

With iTunes 7, which is a free download from apple.com, you can manage what songs, photos, podcasts, contacts etc are copied over to the Nano even easier than before.

Overall, the second generation iPod Nano really is a five star product, the possible faults of the first generation iPod nano have been ironed out, literally.
