5.0 out of 5 stars Ipod Shuffle 12 Jan 2009
I was surprised at just how much I love this little thing. I have dropped it many times and it still works perfectly. A handy little feature is that if the earphones unexpectantly come out (of the IPod) the music will instanly pause allowing you to not miss any of the song. I thought that was an excellant little feature and was amused by it greatly. There is a small light on the two sides of the Ipod that let you know the status and the battery power of the Ipod.
The quickstart booklet that comes with the Ipod explains how to setup your Ipod and even has pictures to help with them which makes it somewhat more understandable.
This comes with a handy little card that explains how each button works incase you are not already familiar with them and on the back a description of what all the light flashes mean. Also, rather randomely two stickers with the apple logo...I have no clue why but hey they're extras I suppose.
To put songs on the Ipod you need to use Itunes. This can be a little bit of a hassle, especially if you are used to drag and drop mp3 players like me, but it will still get the job done. You can make your playlist with this and apply it to the songs on the Ipod so that you will always know what song is coming next if you are not a fan of the shuffle feature.
I personaly highly recomend this to anyone that enjoys music on the go. The lack of a screen is not a bad thing since the rest of it's feature make up for it.

5.0 out of 5 stars Little Gem! 22 Mar 2009

This second generation iPod shuffle has only 1GB storage space, but, this is sufficient to hold over 200 digital music tracks which I find more than adequate for my purpose, providing hours of pleasant listening. Little larger than a postage stamp, it does exactly what its name suggests. It shuffles up your music tracks to provide pleasant surprises. Not only that, it allows you to replay a track easily or jump to the next one if necessary. While some may complain about the playback quality, I personally find the earphones which ship with the Shuffle first class. It is easy-peasy to download iTunes from the Apple site and transfer your chosen music from your computer. When you want to change your selection on the Shuffle, it could not be simpler. A few simple clicks and you are in business again.

The 2GB model has now been removed from the shelves by Apple and a brand new third generation 4GB midget is now on sale. A potential drawback with the new model is that the controls are now on the Apple supplied earphones. If you already use other branded earphones, this could prove problematical or limiting!

If you are seeking a small, quality, mobile music centre you should grab the 1GB Shuffle before it is also removed from the market.

While you can charge the iPod from your computer with a USB cable which ships with it, I can personally recommend the small mains charger which can be purchased cheaply and readily on the Amazon site.

5.0 out of 5 stars SIZE DOESN'T MATTER!!! 16 Jan 2009
I bought this little shuffle so I can use at work because I didn't want to mess up my new Nano 8Gb. This is a brillant piece of kit and does a great job for what I need, it would be slightly better with a small screen so you can see your track listing. This just proves one thing size doesn't matter it's clearly not a space station but it does the job and it's cheap.
