This second generation iPod shuffle has only 1GB storage space, but, this is sufficient to hold over 200 digital music tracks which I find more than adequate for my purpose, providing hours of pleasant listening. Little larger than a postage stamp, it does exactly what its name suggests. It shuffles up your music tracks to provide pleasant surprises. Not only that, it allows you to replay a track easily or jump to the next one if necessary. While some may complain about the playback quality, I personally find the earphones which ship with the Shuffle first class. It is easy-peasy to download iTunes from the Apple site and transfer your chosen music from your computer. When you want to change your selection on the Shuffle, it could not be simpler. A few simple clicks and you are in business again.
The 2GB model has now been removed from the shelves by Apple and a brand new third generation 4GB midget is now on sale. A potential drawback with the new model is that the controls are now on the Apple supplied earphones. If you already use other branded earphones, this could prove problematical or limiting!
If you are seeking a small, quality, mobile music centre you should grab the 1GB Shuffle before it is also removed from the market.
While you can charge the iPod from your computer with a USB cable which ships with it, I can personally recommend the small mains charger which can be purchased cheaply and readily on the Amazon site.
