I think these used to be £60-£65, and even at £45 could be a hint cheaper.
I bought this recently for my 2g Touch - mainly wanted a dock and mains charger (which I still believe should have been supplied with the ipod itself, as it did with my last ipod).
I was looking at the ped3 stand by thought out - but for the extra few pounds you get a composite video connector of good quality and another (groan) remote. Notably the usb mains connector comes with a uk plug, and two other types of two pin plugs which could be useful for travel, and the connecting usb lead is the same as the one with the ipod (so you have a spare)
This universal dock design is a bit long in the tooth now, no doubt at some point it will get updated, but I really like its understated simplicity. Its the same dock you will see on display in an Apple store. Sturdy and sits quietly in a desk corner. You can connect the mains lead to the dock and a stereo lead to your speakers/amp, and not have to fuss too much with leads. I am slightly concerned that the ipod is held upright really only by the connecting plug, and a small projection from behind where it sits. If you gave it shove it could get damaged, but then you shouldn't be shoving it anyway.
The documentation is a bit sparse, and using the video connection, although seemingly straightforward,
has a couple of minor issues; for one my ipod needs to be put in the cradle after connecting to the tv, or it doesn't realise it's been connected, and doesn't output through the cable. Once you realise this, it's fine; but I wasted 45 mins trying to work out what was going wrong. Also I think the ipod software needs a bit of work, to make the experience more logical and smoother. There isn't any front row type experience on the ipod, in fact it hasn't got any kind of menu. Considering apple designed all the products I'm talking about, an easy to follow interface as part of the ipod system software would be more appropriate. Perhaps one of the updates will sort it out. The remote functions could have a bit more depth aswell.
Overall I recommend it; I can connect my ipod and dock to the tv and wirelessly stream BBC Iplayer or youtube in pretty good quality; I have a standalone charger and dedicated remote, and more importantly my desk looks a lot tidier without some monstrous overdesigned dock straddling it.

Excellent Deal, 30 May 2009
Superb value for money.
As far as I'm aware, this should retail for £60-80. I bought mine for £29.99 from a marketplace seller, and for that, it's incredible value for money. I think it's cheaper because Apple no longer stock it on their UK store.
The contents are:
Dock
USB > Apple Connector Cable
3.5mm Jack > Composite Cable
Apple Remote
Set of Dock Fittings
USB > AC Charger / Converter
AC Adapters for International Outlets
If you go to Apple's site and check out the retail value on the individual items, you'll see how much you are saving. The dock alone is priced at £28.
Excellent value for money, and at £29.99, an absolute steal.
