After many months deliberating over whether to go for a Sony Vaio or an I-Mac, opted to I-Mac eventhough there is a significant extra cost. Amazon delivery was fautless. The product looks superb not just the clean lines but the wireless keyboard and mouse make the whole ensemble a beauty to behold. The start-up is within 45 seconds so very acceptable and the transition from PC to Mac is hardly an issue. I am now a convert.

I purchased the Apple iMac 21.5" desktop from Amazon over the Easter weekend. By the following Tuesday it had arrived!! I've always used macs, being a designer it's the industry standard, and I love them for their user friendliness, speed and good looks! This machine is no exception. I was already familiar with it having had one at work but had never set one up myself from scratch. It's a doddle to set up straight out of the box, even for the novice user! It comes pre-loaded with Mac OSX Snow Leopard, it really is a case of switch it on and off you go!
The iMac also comes with a wireless keyboard and mouse. I had heard that the keyboard was not that great but now having used it for a few weeks I'm pleased to report I love it! I'm pushed for space and this machine, with the tiniest keyboard, is perfect! It's compact with everything being in the screen so doesn't take up too much room. The screen is a decent size, lovely glossy surface which gives great colour. All in all I'm chuffed with it. It's sleek, compact, fast and a doddle to set up!
Can't recommend it enough!!

I had put up with PCs and the various issues with windows for many years but now I own a Mac I will never go back to PCs or windows again. The iMac starts in moments and runs smoothly no matter how many applications you have open at any time. It looks amazing and works like a computer should work. The software available for the iMac is not as wide in range as you can get for windows but applications like iWork and Garageband are in a different league to Microsoft's equivalent offerings. If you are going to spend this kind of money get a Mac it is well worth every penny.

After 6 years of buying cheap rubbish, I have finally found a computer which is the " dogs bits ". So wish I had got into Apple computers earlier.
The most simple and quickest computer I have ever had , by a mile. Recommend everyone to get one of these, they are light years ahead of anything else on the market !

I have always had a resistance to buying a mac because of its cost, but was persuaded to buy one now for two daughters who have a need to use Photoshop packages. Yes I know you can use the same on a pc, but its not an industry standard (at least that's what they say!). I persuaded them that one Imac is better than two laptops (how often do you need to carry one around anyway, plus much cheaper!!!)
The speed, capacity and look and feel of this machine, at this price (reduced days after I bought it!!!)is amazing. It's supposed to be solely for college work. but can't resist having a go when they're out! It took so short a time to set up when compared to my pc of a year ago.
I can't fault it.....yet!

I was eventually persuaded to ditch my PC for an IMAC by my husband and have to say it has been the best decision ever. A pleasure to use (for both work and personal use) and everything has been much easier to use and switch over than i thought.
Very compact , great screen and wireless mouse and keyboard work well.

Original review- (see below for update).
In the space of the last three months, I have had two iMac's, and I'm still having trouble.
First one was a 27" Core i5. The screen went literally ONE day after switching it on. Supplier took it away, then rang me after a week and a half to tell me that it needed a new screen, and the repair could potentially take "months" due to Apple having so many problems with this particular model, and a "backlog of waiting repairs".
First of all, requested my money back. I actually had to go out and buy another one, as the supplier was being, let's say, a little reluctant with my refund (I thought, "there's no way lightning can strike twice........can it?").
Apple weren't shipping any more 27" units, due to numerous problems, and the need to iron these out first, so I had to settle for a 21.5".
Switch on, and the machine was working perfectly. Then on the second day, certain keys on the wireless keyboard stopped working intermitently (always the same keys). Soemtimes they did, sometimes they didn't. Rang dealer again (sigh), and spent the next week to-ing and fro-ing trying to get them to send me a replacement keyboard. Thankfully they did and by this time the refund for the original unit had been sorted out in all fairness to them.
Sent the faulty keyboard back, and all's well.....for about a day!
NOW, the machine won't display a disc icon on the desktop when I insert a disc, or after it has burned one (yes I have checked preferences, and the "Display cd/dvd icon" box is checked).
As you can imagine, I am losing patience with both Apple and their products. When it's working, I could give it five stars, but sadly Apple, your quality control leaves a lot to be desired. When I shell out over one and a half grand on a computer, I expect it to work properly. Because of the ongoing problems I am experiencing, and being pushed back and forth between Apple and Apple reseller, I am only going to give you two stars (and that's being generous, because quite frankly, I am pretty hacked off).
That was then. I'm now pleased to say that the issues that I had have been resolved. I've had this one (21.5") for about six months and so far it's behaved faultlessly (revised from original two stars to four...... will uprate to five if it continues to work properly). Much happier now. So much so that I'm considering supplanting it with a 27". I assume that by now, Apple have corrected the issues with them.

Works great - despite the box it was shipped in looked like it had done ten rounds with Tyson. Packaging was minimal at best and i think it was only Apples blocks of polystyrene that saved it.
Shame on you Amazon, when you pay this sort of price you expect it better protected.
Late March UPDATE - its dying having a number of issues with it starting (thinks its the power button) amazon are sending out a replacement lets hope this is better.
April UPDATE - received replacement from Amazon great service as usual new one is great love it. At £929 definitely the best value for money, paying over £200 more only gets you 500gb of additional storage and a lowly 4670 graphics card. Nothing has taxed the onboard 9400m yet but i do not game on this

I have always used a PC but this really caught my eye. The design and build quality is light years ahead of anything else on the market. It is almost as if it has come from another planet. The main aluminium body houses the hard drive, dvd drive and stunning 21.5 inch LED screen (there is no tower). The Keyboard is wireless (bluetooth) and is in aluminium with white keys. The wireless mouse is in matching aluminium and white. Other manufacturers should do the world a favour and stop producing black plastic landfill until they can match the quality and design genius of the Imac. I am not normally a fan of apple but pound for pound this is their best value product. Buy this for your partner and they will look at you as if you have pulled down the stars from the night sky!
