I chose this adapter over its DVI brother as I wasn't sure if my external monitor supported DVI-D. The large end of the cable plugs into the VGA cable coming from your monitor - it's essentially an extension cable. Once connected the Mac recognises it straight away. Uncheck 'mirror image' and drag the open windows onto the external monitor for best performance. You can also choose where you want the menu bar and dock, either on Mac display or external monitor, regardless of where you have your open windows. All in all a great product.

I bought my adapter from WIRED-UP it arrived and is not a genuine Apple lead so make sure when you buy if you want Apple like I did then check that the item is Apple the seller stated it was Apple and it isn't

PLUG AND PLAY BABY YEAH, this had arrived while I was at work and when I got home I thought I will have a quick look and 1 minute later 2 displays in perfect working order just need to try it on my HDTV NOW!!!!!
