Product Description

From the Back Cover

Updated for DVD Studio Pro 4.2.2, this best-selling, Apple certified guide uses striking real-world footage to build four complete DVDs and share a Blu-ray disc. It covers how to use  DVD Studio Pro on its own, as well as how to integrate it into  your workflow with Final Cut Pro 7, Motion 4, and Compressor 3.5. Each lesson takes you step-by-step through an aspect of DVD creation and finishing, with hands-on projects for you to complete as you go.

You'll learn to storyboard your DVD and plan its interactions, set chapter markers, build still and motion menus, and add overlays and subtitles. You’ll also work with multiple audio tracks and camera angles, create smart buttons and custom transitions, professionally encode audio and video files, and build useful scripts.

As the rest of the Apple Pro Training Series, this book is must have if you want to pass DVD studio Apple exam. It's nicely structured, detailed and at the end of each lesson you get questions and answers from the lesson you just learned. Would definitely recommend!

Not Worth the money, but still pretty good 7 Dec. 2005
By George Mauro - Published on
Format: Paperback
I've been in a fight w/ Apple and Peachpit over this 'new' version of DVDSP4.

I'm an Apple cert. instructor for this and other ProApps. When I started reading the new book I found the same mistakes from version 3 had been copied over to version 4.

Granted, the new compressor app is great but nowhere does it explain the new features of DVDSP4 like support for external video, VTS editing and the whole HD support. I was told by Apple and Peachpit that this version of the book was intended to be an 'revision' of the old book; however, the general advertising of this book says 'Fully Update' instead of 'Fully Revised'... a bit misleading to the people who thought this version would help instruct students on how to best use the new features. We'll have to wait.

Good read ...BUT 11 April 2007

Good illustrations but not that easy for a DVD STudio Pro 'Dummy'. I found that I had to go to the Apple DVD Studio Pro manual from the net to work out what to do. Then, after I had a basic understanding, and a few hours of fiddling on the computer, this book came to life for me and was very useful. Particularly the project workshops.

Great Help Book 2 Aug. 2009
By Brown Sugar26 - Published on

The first time I opened DVD Studio I was lost and I knew I was in over my head. Then I purchased this book and I just want to tell you that I have hit the ground running designing my own menus and buttons in less than two hours and four chapters of this book. Buy this book to unlock the secrets of DVD Studio that are unknown on the surface you will be happy that you did.....

Learn DVD Studio Pro 10 May 2009
By Eric Fuerschbach - Published on
Format: Paperback
I used this book to teach my DVD Studio Pro class at the Center for Digital Imaging Arts at Boston University. This book presents a concise and comprehensive view into the world of DVD authoring. It is great for beginners, and provides valuable information for intermediate users as well.

The exercises in this book consist of practical use of DVD Studio Pro and applying the concepts learned to increasingly more complex situations. If you want to learn DVD Studio Pro, get this book.
