This is a superb book for learning FCP whether you are a beginner or have more experience. I have been using FCP for years but after reading this book realised I've been doing it all wrong. You can do things in a fraction of the time and effort when you know what your doing. The book is split up into easy to follow lessons with plenty of video footage provided for you to experiment on. Some software guides are hard to follow with confusing jargon and unclear instructions. This book is very easy to understand and the tasks easy to follow. If you are like me and like books that tell you what buttons to push and when to push them you should buy this book.

I am a 2nd year Film student and as such have been wanting to get to grips with this software for sometime. Having had several colleagues try to show me how to use it, I found that I simply couldn't get to grips with it from their teachings alone. I purchased this book recently and am now powering my way through it. The projects set out in the book and accompanying dvd are engaging and interesting as well as providing real scope surrounding the workings of FCP7. Each task will take 1 to 2.5 hours to complete and provide a comprehensive "how to" guide for the novice and experienced user alike. Highly recommended!

This is a fantastic item, great for hands on learning. I used it to help me make the transition between premier pro and final cut pro and it has been such a great help. The amount of time I have saved on jobs due to the advice it gives is amazing!!

Too many assumptions
Not very helpful for a complete beginner like me. Right from the beginning the book makes assumptions as if I was familiar with FCP.

If you've got FCP 7, you're halfway there. Get this book to reach...
It literally walks you through FCP 7 and you'll learn so much. What's great is that you get to edit real programmes so you're actually gaining real-life experience.

If you want a good range of worked examples without making using of other FC stuff such as Motion then it is fine. Read more
