I still have this childhood book & now enjoy it with my own child. It is a wonderful story about a girl who cares for an old apple tree & is rewarded with an abundance of apples! The illustrations are fantastically simple but tap into the imagination with everyday references to home life, allowing the child to place themselves within the story. It also contains a wealth of animals to enjoy. Often we just chat about the things on the pages & what they might be doing or sound like. It is a wonderful book on many levels & should really be back in print for another generation to enjoy!

Coherent autumn poem/story about a tree which produces so many apples, the family have to have an 'apple feast'. Style: Dr Seuss with more sense and less whimsy.

Our all time favorite book!

Apple pigs is my sons' and my favorite! We first discovered this old jewel on the shelves of our library. We checked it out again and again! The story is wonderful...set in rhyme with lots of silliness, but shares a family working together, animals galore, taking care of the world around us, sharing and community. Plus...we loved the directions at the end for making our own apple pigs! Much to our great disappointment and actual tears, the one and only copy in our library system of this beloved book came up missing in action! Our efforts to purchase a copy have been frustrating...very few, very expensive editions. This one is truly worth printing again! If you ever stumble across it...Enjoy!

So sad you're out of print

This book was a childhood favorite of mine, and being the sentimental type I've kept it all these years. I'm now reading it to my 2 year old and he loves it. It's a story of redemption, caring for our earth, sharing abundance and community. I just love this story. The rhyming is fun for my two year old and we almost sing it as we turn the pages full of fun, funky artwork which includes lots of zoo animals and children. A treasure if you can get your hands on it. I was hoping to purchase copies for friends but haven't found any.

Apples, Apples, Apples

My three kids and I all enjoyed this book years ago (in the 70's) reading about the wonderful apple tree that produced so many apples the family did not know what to do with them all!... Just like my kids' granny who also had a fruit orchard and had about a zillion ways to use the various fruits. I am so sorry this book is no longer in print as I wanted to purchase it for my own grandson.
