Do you like your music saccharin sweet with an acid aftertaste?
Yes? Well Poppy Noiseniks Deerhoof are for you and Apple O' is in my opinion their best Album. Each track is a winner. All are slightly different- but twee high pitched vocals, dirty guitars, simple drum beats and loads of other random instruments pravail throughout. This makes for an album which is like a packet of sweets which you thought you could eat one of and save the rest for later. But you'll only end up greedily scoffing them all, with wild abandon and not feeling any guilt when you wake up later with a big sticky grin on your face.
If the answer is no, then buy it anyway and you'll change your mind.
Basically, Pop music has had a lot of bad press lately with even more mass marketed stuff flooding shops and other genres becoming more popular.
Reinvigorate your faith! Buy this Album now!

This is a pretty amazing album. The first time I heard it, it sounded too random and deliberately noisy/childish in it's execution, but after a few plays it becomes clear this is the work of a band who know what they're doing, even if we the listeners don't. To sum Deerhoof up in one sentance I would probably say something like "Sebadoh doing a bad live show in a garage but with an oriental female child on vocals", but that doesn't really do justice to the way the band actually sound like they're playing these songs from inside a volcano that's about to erupt at any moment. Basically it's impossible to review this, just buy it.

Deerhoof are wonderful. Inventive and unpredictable.

Crazy-cute singsong vocals from Satomi Matsuzaki, incredibly effective and original guitar playing from John Dieterich and the most exciting drumming I've ever heard from the amazing Greg Saunier.

Their playfulness and stylistic diversity may take a little getting used to as does anything that genuinely breaks new ground, but if you let these guys under your skin you will find a bunch of musical friends that will put a smile on your face so wide you'll look like a lunatic.
