1.0 out of 5 stars Disaster - Steer Clear, 11 Mar 2009
Being an Apple convert I downloaded the free 60 day trial for MobileMe a few weeks ago; hoping I'd end up with everything nicely synced and a reliable email system.

For the last three days I haven't been able to access my email. Support has been non-existent with a message on the Apple site that they've'resolved the issue'. Not for me they haven't. And this isn't the first time this has happened.

I too, like other reviewers here, went to include my comments on the Apple site - funnily enough they seem to have disabled it for MobileMe...hmmm I wonder why?

5.0 out of 5 stars Great! Makes you already amazing Mac even more amazing!!, 28 Nov 2008
By Mr. S. Street "Street" (Derby UK) - See all my reviews
(REAL NAME)
First off I want to clear up some confusion with MobileMe, The other reviews who give one star are just ridiculous...Yeah when MobileMe first came out (July 2008) it had a few problems, it wasn't best thought out by Apple but now in November 2008 it's services are completely 100% running with no faults! The services work fast and the 20gb of online storage (the iDisk) is great...no longer do i use my USB pen drive i simply go on any computer (PC or Mac) and connect straight onto my iDisk and Viola my files are all there! Also with the 20gb ou can upload all your Photos, Movies and Music straight from the iLife 08 suite....which comes free on all Macs...It's a FANTASTIC way to share all your content online with all your friends and family! Not only all this but you get an e-mail address (example@me.com) which i must admit is very good for filtering out spam! and ives you 5 alias's which is great for business's etc.
If you own an iPod Touch or an iPhone then this service is a must! If you have multiple macs or even pc's then you can keep all your calendars, contacts and bookmarks all synced up and if you add a new contact/calendar/bookmark on the move with your iPhone this will go up into the cloud (internet) and sync it straight to your other devices so everything is constantly up to date no matter what machine your on and with NO wires! Genius!

1.0 out of 5 stars Great idea but not yet reliable enough for use, 29 Aug 2008
By MarcoPolo (Windsor, UK) - See all my reviews
MobileMe is a great idea - it should allow you to keep all of your Macs emails, contacts, calendars in sync together with your iPhone. And if you're working away from home, and don't have access to any of these, then there's a full web interface to allow you to access all of this information.

Unfortunately my experience of MobileMe under OS X Tiger (10.4.11) is that it is very unreliable and bug ridden at this stage. I've had syncing problems where the web 'Cloud' refuses to accept my iMac calendar and drops all the entries, changing system preferences for MobileMe on my Mac has led to my Macs hanging, and contact information has been corrupted by duplicate data. If you have a look at press stories for MobileMe, you'll see that it hasn't been Apple's finest hour. Support is also poor -Apple Care told me they don't cover MobileMe problems and you end up having to email MobileMe support your questions.

In short, MobileMe has great potential but I'd wait until Spring 2009 for Apple to sort out all the teething problems.
