I was concerned about ordering this as I only wanted it to do one job, and there are mixed reviews as to whether it will do it or not. I wanted the lead to transfer images straight from my camera to my Ipad air for storage and editing while on the move.

First problem was getting it out of the box which I had to finally destroy to get inside it! This concerned me as there was a chance that the item would still have to be returned.

Second problem, the instructions. They basically say plug it in and transfer images. For a lot of us that just isn't going to happen. Many of us will get the 'not enough power' warning, so why don't Apple warn us about this and tell us the work arounds? In my case it simply meant going into the camera menu and changing the USB setting to MTP (normally on Storage) and this did the trick. Don't know why it doesn't work with it set to Storage or Auto as you would think these would be the obvious settings! But I've read loads of reviews where people simply want the lead to be plug and play, or at least include some step by step instructions.

Think on Apple. Your short sightedness is losing you customers who will take their business elsewhere unless you wise up!

I've tried the lead a few times now and it has worked well for what it does, but setting up could be easier and it does sometimes need plugging in twice before it will transfer. So it does the job, but for the price it should be a lot easier to use, have decent instructions and work every time.

Having made the same (and needlessly wasteful) mistake as many others, I too had previously been "conned" into purchasing a third party objects supposedly capable of dong the same job as this adapter, which, in fairness, it did, albeit just the once before it fell apart in my hands, and really rather slowly when trying to complete the transfer

Having, and again, like many others before me, got past my inner objections against splashing out what is, quite obviously the old "captive market" we can charge as much as we like price tag from the openly greedy Apple, I conceded defeat and bought an adapter, as quite frankly, I could find no other effective way of getting the large number of images I wanted from camera to IPad, without faring about using my laptop, which was taking me an absolute age, as I often shoot in RAW.

I have to admit to having been just a tad dubious having read some of others comments as to whether or not this was going to work, but having read another Canon users comments, Mr Kelly, I felt quite reassured, so went ahead and ordered one.

On connecting it up to the camera to USB cable, my IPad (with retina display) picked up the images immediately, and the download speed was amazingly fast.

I have to say, now having got hold of a solution to my problem, that despite the silly cost, I truly am so very glad that I read all of the reviews through and went ahead with buying one.
An even nicer surprise was that from the 6-8 day delivery time quoted, having ordered it late on in the day one day, I was amazed to have it delivered the very next morning, complete with free delivery, and a few pence cheaper brand new than Amazon were selling it for, so full marks and some to the seller!!

I did consider buying other than the Apple brand but after reading the reviews decided to play safe and ordered this one. I am so glad that I did as it is so easy to use. Would highly recommend - it is worth paying the extra for genuine Apple product.

I bought this to go with my new iPad Air. Works perfectly with my Canon camera to load and play the pictures (so far only JPEG) and MVI movies on the iPad. I have also discovered the adaptor works with my USB Microphone and USB keyboard into Garage Band on the iPad. Note: I have been told that it won't work with USB devices that need much power via the Lightning socket. You may like to try these via a powered USB hub?
Once my pictures are on the iPad I have up-loaded them via the MS Skydrive application so that I can process them on Photoshop on my PC back home. Obvious Broadband upload speed is very slow but at least I know my holiday or event pictures are safe. Another tip is to send the pictures to an e-mail address using WeTransfer.Com in Safari - but they still have to upload slowly.

I want to copy video and photos from iPod and iPhone to an iPad and using this with the USB-Lightning charge cable (supplied with iPhone and iPod) this works well. I should mention that it does not allow importing from iPhone to iPod (not that I want to).

For normal iPad photo import I would use (and prefer) the SD card reader, or the Cloud set-up.

This facility is confirmed on the Apple Support pages, but the info is buried away, and for some reason I don't always trust Apple and their connectivity.

Did not work as advertised. Very disappointed in Apple for marketing this product and misleading buyers into buying something that is not fir for purpose.
