You need to be absolutely clear before purchasing this - and it's not particularly cheap - what Apple products it actually works with:
It works FULLY with the iPad 2 and the iPhone 4S - and that's it!
With iPad 1, iPhone 4 and iPod Touch 4th Generation (but not 3rd or earlier) you can stream videos - and that is all.
I did not pick this up from the Amazon product description, so it doesn't work fully with my iPad (it's not a 2), but luckily I have an iPhone 4S, so it works fully with that.
I still think it is ridiculously expensive, but that's Apple for you!

product is neat and well made as you would expect......
but dissapointed that SKYGO does not allow you to transfer picture off ipad 2.
So the mirror screen issue can be blocked by some apps.
shame its the only thing I bought it for!

I have an ipad 2 and when I connect it using this adaptor to my Samsung LCD TV and select the correct HDMI channel, it works exactly as expected. Downloaded movies play in 720p HD which is fine and you have a single click option to view in widescreen mode with the blank area top and bottom of the screen or lose some the edges of the picture by playing it full screen. I usually choose the latter.
This adaptor turns your ipad into near enough a full blown media centre and it can be used to watch iplayer or show photos on your TV as well playing music if you have a decent sound system attached to your tv.
Good value for money.

Great little gadget
I love this adapter it allows you to play iTunes through your tv, also watch catch up via a larger screen rather than iPad or laptop. All in all a great little gadget x

This Item did not work
What more can I say. Pluged in my I,pad,connected the HDMI lead to my TV,and all I got was a Green Screen.

Wonderful device!
My Sony TV does have access to iPlayer but it takes ages to load and is not intuitive like Apple products. This AV Adapter is great. Really plug and play. Read more
