Product Description

Bluetooth unplugs digital peripherals and helps make cable clutter a thing of the past. Bluetooth is an open specification for wireless data transmission that operates on the globally available 2.4GHz radio frequency. Bluetooth devices can communicate with each other within a 30-foot range. The Bluetooth 2.0+EDR module works with Mac Pro with Bluetooth technology to connect short-range devices like the Apple Wireless Keyboard and wireless Mighty Mouse or to sync a PDA or Bluetooth-enabled cell phone.

O E M bluetooth from Apple. If your Mac Pro does not have BT, it fits your Mac Pro like a charm. Nuff said.

Bluetooth upgrade kit 13 Jun. 2013

Item arrived a day early, excellent. I'm using the card to give my 2006 mac pro bluetooth. It did come with the tiny screws to hold it in place, but did not come with instructions. If you search online how to install you can find easy to follow instructions. It took about ten minutes to install, turn computer back on and immediately recognized, connected wireless mouse and keyboard. Easy.

Needed an Apple Tech to install this item 15 Sept. 2012

First of all, the pictures on the ad for this product are ambiguous... there's one picture of a card that apparently plugs into a PCI slot, then another picture of the actual item with a screw hole at each corner. The picture of the PCI slot card is deceptive, creating the illusion that all you have to do to install the module is to plug in this item to your motherboard, which is definitely not the case. This deceptive picture should be removed and future buyers should be made aware.

As I said, the actual item is the module pictured in the ad that has the four screw holes at each corner. The item arrived with no directions whatsoever (in contrast to the info posted in a previous comment in this thread), and two screws. I located the BT module on my Mac Pro motherboard which was giving me problems and tried to replace the module myself. I had read on other reviews that the module should be installed by a qualified Apple Technician.

I managed to attach the module to the motherboard but was unable to attache the BT antenna to the module (the circular thing with the center pin at the foot of the circuit board in the advertisement picture).

So I had to take the Mac Pro to a service center. Their Level 1 tech also could not attache the BT antenna to the module; my Mac Pro had to go to their Apple Certified Technician.

So it cost me $43 and three hours to have the module installed professionally but my BT on my Mac Pro is now working perfectly. I've both a wireless keyboard and mouse attached, and the system detects when I hold down the option key or Command R (for System Restore on Lion) from the wireless keyboard during boot up.

So just be advised that due to the small workspace of the Mac Pro and the small size of the BT antenna plug, you may find that you either don't have the proper tools or lack the fine motor skills necessary to do the installation job yourself, and that you too will need to have the module professionally installed by an Apple Technician.
