5.0 out of 5 stars Excellent machine 2 Sep 2012
By Chloe
This machine is an absolute joy to use!! The build quality is top notch and it's FAST. OS X + Flash storage makes this thing fly. I've used a huge array of machines (PC and Mac) over the years and this thing is stunning.

As for the naysayers... if the screen is too small, bump up to the 13" for a little over £100. You can even install and run Windows (in a multitude of ways) to get the best of both worlds!

Don't take my word for it. Hunt for other reviews out there and you'll see the thousands of glowing professional and amateur reviews ;)

The 11 inch screen is very small, but that is the idea. I really love this hugely portable tiny machine. It was also very easy to set up and any thing you need to know can be found on the 'help' button.

5.0 out of 5 stars What a machine 20 Oct 2012
By Dunc R
I've had many machines but this one is without doubt the best. Who needs an iPad when you have a Mac with 11" screen; answer = no one. If you havent tried a Mac then do it now!!

5.0 out of 5 stars Best Laptop Ever Owned 3 Oct 2012
I have had PC's for as long as I can remember - mainly laptops and mainly 13" or less. Have gone from dell latitudes to expensive sony vaio's and back again. I can honestly say this is the best machine I've ever used, the SSD makes it lightning quick and can handle most things I throw at it, even photo editing. I also have a 2011 Macbook Pro from work but the Air seems way faster due to the SSD.

The build is pretty bomb proof, sat on it with the screen open and not a mark. You can also hook it up to a large monitor 27" thunderbolt display (or other) and it handles it very easily. The speed for such a small machine is amazing.

If you can afford the extra, I would by-pass the iPad - with the 11" Air there are very few advantages to an iPad unless you like to play games. The Air is just as portable and you don't have to struggle typing.

5.0 out of 5 stars No longer the weakling of the Mac family... 30 April 2013
I've been the proud owner of a Macbook Air for almost 5 months now, travelling with it on a regular basis and plugging it into a 24" Mac display when I'm in the office. An avid Mac user for a decade now, for both business and personal reasons, it's been the go-to choice for me whenever I've had the chance, so when I was asked what machine I'd like for my new job (and given a budget of £1k), I jumped at the chance to try out the Air.

I have the standard 1.7 GHz 11inch model, with upgraded RAM (8GB) and SSD (128GB). I update it regularly without issue and spend about 9-10 hours a day using it - so I think I'm well qualified to pass judgement on it - heck, I'm writing this review on it!

I'm going to try and highlight 2 instances of use in this review - office use and travelling - the Air performs admirably in both, but you'll see some differences between them that might help you make up your mind as to whether the Air's a suitable laptop for your needs.

Price - not so much an issue for me as this is a work device, but the Air isn't cheap. The basic 11" model starts at £849 and climbs right up £1200 for the 13" inch model, but I'll say straight off the bat, you don't need the 13" model unless you have terrible eyesight - the 11" screen is beautifully crisp and more than adequate.

Look & Feel - some people would jump on my back for this comment, but it's very true, even to the point where people try to duplicate Apple's style. Simply put, this is the most beautiful laptop you've ever seen. Everywhere I've taken it it's had admiring glances - from night flights where people have noted it's backlit keyboard, to the London Tube system. Admittedly, that might've been some scamp eyeing it up to nick it, but still - there's no denying this is a desirable machine.

5.0 out of 5 stars Another Apple Convert 6 July 2013
By Viv

Love it, love it!!! Always buy the unlimited, global tuition package from Apple which allows one-to-one tuition for as many times as you like for a whole year. Mac's are the best, don't even think of buying anything else. They are light, slimline and slot into a handbag if necessary. Fast and fabulous - my new best friend.
