Great quality, no messing. Works perfectly. I already own a Duet (version 1) so I expected the Jam to be a great product.

This is fantastic product that 'just works'. This is a professional grade product, so you get what you pay for, but I still think it is a tad expensive as it has limited use. Perfect for on-the-road recording or just to get inspired at home.

I bought the Apogee Jam because I'd previously been using the iRig, which worked well and was considerably cheaper. One of the main things I did on the iPad was to make song covers just for fun, and if you try to do it with the iRig you get a sort of ghosting effect - the song playback which runs through the headphone jack seems to creep back into the input. The Apogee Jam doesn't do this however - whether it's from the use of the charger socket or just a higher-quality build, I don't know.

So that solved the covers section, but I use it every day now for a few reasons - it allows me to practice bass silently when I get back late from work, and works great when you play along to Spotify, so I often jam along to Motown to keep my hands in shape during the week. Only problem there is for some reason it's difficult to get the bass loud enough to complete with the music player without it peaking/distorting - but I think this is more the fault of Spotify not having an isolated volume control, unlike the app you play your guitar or bass through. Incidentally, I use Ampkit to play. I believe it's free but you have to pay for different pedals and amps, of which a couple are actually worth it for the price, especially if you like doing covers like me.

To finish up, it's a great piece of kit, even if it's pricey. I don't have a computer so this is an essential piece of kit - I was reassured to by the fact that it also comes bundled with a cable to Mac should I ever upgrade, worth thinking about considering the short shelf life of the iPhone and iMac.

I wanted a way to practice my guitar wherever I went and this little device makes it possible.

I plugged my guitar in one end. I plugged it into my iPhone with the supplied cable. I started Garage Band up on the iPhone and selected the guitar amp instrument. I plugged in a pair of headphones into the iPhone and Wow - great sound; no delay; no hiss; no messing around. Simple and brilliant!

Works with my iPad just as well. Works through the CD input in my Marshall digital Amp, giving me a wider range of effects and styles than the amp itself. Also works through my surround sound system, which is like being in a rock concert with massive sound. I'm going to see if it works through AirPlay today so that I can walk around whilst playing the guitar with no cables tying me down - I'll let you know how I get on.

Update - Unfortunately, it does not work through AirPlay with Garage Band. Never mind - it is still very good for practicing when I don't have my Amp near by. For example, we spend the past four days in a cottage in Devon and plugged the iPad into the hi-fi, with the Apogee Amp and a Gibson Les Paul, and spend many hours practicing Santana using Guitar Tab on the iPad. ALso had a go with the Apmlitude app on the iPad and both myself and my son thought it sounded better than the Garage Band Amps but a bit too costly for what you get (but that is an all different review...).

Bought this product to connect my guitar to GarageBand on iPad2. Works flawlessly. Just plug in, set audio input and output preferences and start (good instructions are provided). The indicator light and volume control is a good feature and prevents any clipping or distortion on recording. Also includes a cable to connect to Mac as well, which also work flawlessly, better and simpler than the M-Audio fast track that I used previously. Simple, small, sounds great, I would recommend to anyone who wishes to do the same.

There are occasions when spending extra is worthwhile and this is one of them. I tried the iRig and Ampkit link both about £25 plus another £15 for their respective apps. Both suffer from horrible and intrusive feedback and both are pretty cheap bits of plastic. This plus garageband costs twice as much and sounds ten times better. Its simply in another league. Brilliant bit of kit. All I need now is a bottle of jack and a can of lighter fuel.

The application pretty much works as advertised. Plug it in, plug your guitar in, and it works, no hiss, no flaws, perfect sound. The volume dial and led showing if your input is too high or just right, or if the device is online and ready to use (blue until that time) is great. I've used it a lot over the last month, and have no complaints. It was a tad expensive (though I see better deals now), but for me absolutely worth every penny. Together with GarageBand on iPad 3 I now have a mobile studio and guitar amplifier, and as a result I've been recording and creating tracks everywhere, kitchen, living room, with friends, etc. Hope this device stays with me for a looong time.
