Product Description

The Ministry of Serendipity control everything. They run this world from their secret underground lair beneath Mornington Crescent Underground Station in London. And when they learn of the crashed alien spacecraft lying at the bottom of the Pacific Ocean, they send out their crack team of paranormal investigators to recover it.
The Fortean superstars that are Sir John Rimmer, Dr Harney and the psychic youth himself, Mr Danbury Collins.
Secret dossiers suggest that this spacecraft contains a mad alien that was once worshipped as a god because of its terrible telepathic powers. And that it is even now lying in suspended animation, awaiting its time to rise again and rule the world once more
Danbury’s special senses tell him that the best thing to do would be to nuke the creature now before it wreaks havoc on Mankind. But does anyone listen?
Porrig has been left something in his uncle’s will. It might be a bookshop, it might be a planet, or it might be a doorway into another dimension. And Porrig is worried, because he has learned a great and terrible secret. But will anyone listen to him when he tries to tell them?
It’s a pity that people rarely listen, because, in this case, had they troubled to do so, the world would have been spared from all the madness and mayhem, the thousands fleeing in terror, the mad monster laying waste to half of London and the dirty great explosion at the end. But then, there wouldn’t have been much of a story if they had listened.
Robert Rankin spent a great deal of time reappraising and reworking this novel for its Kindle release. There was a lot he didn’t like about it. A lot that sat uneasily with him. Some rather dire plot-holes. Some really lame jokes. And far too many excruciating knob gags!!!
So he wielded a fearsome literary cleaver. Then fiddled and diddled and jiggled about with the text until at last he produced the “author’s cut” he was proud of. It is his hope that this final version will please his readers, whether they are new to this book or have read it before. And that it will stay up for sale in this present form for many years to come.

More About the Author

Robert Rankin describes himself as a teller of tall tales. The Morning Star describes him as 'The Master of Silliness', and his publisher describes him as The Master of Far Fetched Fiction. He is the author of more than thirty novels, of which he has sold millions of copies, and he is published - and making people laugh - around the world.

Despite his remarkable publishing success, Robert has never taken himself too seriously. He loves going on tour, signing books for readers, and his appearances at signings and conventions are legendary, often including a stand-up routine, a song (accompanied by his 'air-ukulele'), and an always-entertaining question-and-answer session. Robert Rankin is a great entertainer, whether in person or through his novels, with wit, humour and an incredible personal warmth.

But that's not all! In addition to being a talented writer, comedian and musician, he's also an incredible artist . . . so incredible, that he creates his own stunning book covers.

Reading his books can and will inspire you, scare you, thrill you and, above all, entertain you. His novels are an outlet for the soul, and food for the imagination.
