When White Wolf announced their intention to bring to an end their best selling and intriguing World of Darkness I was nonplussed. What motive could possibly lie behind such a decision. Creative drive or falling sales? After all, the Wordl of Darkness would be re-launched in a new, presumably fresh, way later in 2004. However as I was a long term fan I decided to give the people at White Wolf a chance and jumped on Board.
It was a godd decision. First off this book has very high production values, great cover, good layout inside, strong art and good writing.
Second, it does exactly what it says on the cover, presents ways to run the "End of the World" in your own Chronicle. Four scenarios are presented, one each for Wyld, Wrym and Weaver ascendant, and one tied to Exalted. Each of these scenarios are engrossing, intriguing and tough as hell. No matter what option you pick, your players will remember the resulting adventure for years to come.
With all of this enthusiasm for this book, why only four stars?
The book fails on one front, its tie in to the other W.O.D. Games, Vampire and Mage.
We are told early on that the book focuses on the Garou, and that it is not meant to tie in to the other games.
Then as we read the scenarios we see continual mention of mages, and most especially Vampires, the Demon of India, the Brotherhood of Set etc.
To me this is disatisfying. Either the games should be tied in strongly, as in the original rule books, or keep them clear of these little scraps thrown in.
Apart from that one minor weakness this book is flawless in its execution of its stated intentions. Add it to your collection today

Choose your destiny 26 Feb 2004
Format:Hardcover
At last with much excitement I ripped the book out of its delivery box and poured through its pages.

The presentation is excellent. A beautiful cover, crisp pages nicely illustrated and well laid out. Several short story intros to the sections set the scene.

So how good is it? There are multiple scenarios placed in here that allow the Storyteller a lot of flexibility in deciding what the Apocalypse will be and how it happens. Each of the scenarios carefully breaks down what happens, why, and the results of each. It gives you aftermath and finales for each of the scenarios depending on "who wins" - each worthy of the name apocalypse. Whether the world is destroyed, or reborn, each scenario clearly is a very "final" chapter in the history of the Garou.

So why only four stars? At the end of the day the resource tells you how the Apocalypse MIGHT happen... but after so long advancing the storyline, they don't give you a conclusive "this is what happens." I respect White Wolf's decision to leave it up to the Storyteller to determine the end, but it would have been nice to have been told "this is the way we chose it to end... but here are other alternatives..."

Also, the different scenarios presented here are ALL different from how the Apocalypse occurs in the novel The Final Battle - which is further disappointing. I actually preferred the outcome in the novel to several of the given scenarios.

They've also specified a little TOO heavily that this is from the perspective of the Garou, and that though Ascension and Gehenna are also occuring, the Garou are too preoccupied to really notice, and this is told from their point of view. It gives a few inter-linked points (such as linking the Eater-of-Souls with the Kindred), but if you have a mixed-race game like mine, it will be very difficult to have Kindred going through Gehenna whilst trying to aid their Garou allies in the Apocalypse. It kinda resorts to both going seperate ways and handling their own problems. A little more cross-compatibility would have been nice. I hope the final Time of Judgement book covers this.

Still, an excellent ending to a good long-running game and well worth the money. Me personally I like to think it ends how it did in the novel, and this book definately has more than enough information for me to make that ending a reality if I wish by intermingling scenarios (which it also helps you do).

In a Blaze of Glory 2 Jan 2008
By Frank Fontaine - Published on Amazon.com
Format:Hardcover
Fantastic is a word I would use to describe this book, the very last supplement in the Werewolf Apocalypse line. The scenarios are all entertaining and capture that doomed yet heroic spirit that the game itself had. Have no doubts that each scenario gaurantees that heroes will fall and victory can only be won at the cost of the entire Garou race.

You can tell that the writers really loved thei game line and setting and they wanted to make sure the werewolves got a proper send off and the fans of the game are showered with plot points, helpful suggestions and open ended scenarios that allow you to tinker with and add on your own points.

I heartily recommend this book even as just a good read if you enjoyed the werewolf metaplot or just wanted to see what Apocaplyse was going to be like if you stopped running one of these games long ago. You won't be disappointed. By far this was the best of the Final Judgment books that ended the White Wolf game lines.

Amazing, are you? 14 Sep 2005

The WtA had the most heart, despite it's action packed premise... This book was everything I wanted and more. Amazing battles, heroic sacrafice, and betrayal. It was amazing....

The WtA creator's put their souls into this and it shows, it's open ended, yet as structured as you want the Apocolypse to be.. It wasn't souless like the Gehenna book, but made you laugh and cry with your characters in the end times...

Buy this is you ever want to end the world with a bang in your WtA books...

I works 10 April 2009

Its a good enough book for the gehenna series, but is still lacking in what I would call depth, that is missing throughout Apocalypse.
But its a fun book, and a few of the stories in there is quite epic and fun to run through.
