5.0 out of 5 stars Well judged content leads to an excellent CD 24 Mar 2002
By A Customer
Format:Audio CD
This is a well thought out selection of excellent film music that has choral input. What I particularly enjoyed is the slightly tweaked orchestrations that allow the different musical tracks to blend together extremely well. Sounds terrific in surround sound and with a solid 74 minutes of music is a throughly recommended buy. I'll certainly be looking for the related CDs as a result of buying this, and I hope another one is produced - there is plenty of material out there e.g. Star Trek VI, Species, Independence Day, Alien 3, 2001

5.0 out of 5 stars "Choral treasures to cherish...BRILLIANT" 21 Nov 2001
By J. Lovins - Published on Amazon.com
Format:Audio CD
Before I begin my review, must make mention of the past projects this group of musicians and singers have collaborated on ~ "Cinema Choral Classics"(SILKD-6015)..."Cinema Choral Classics II"(SILKD-6017)..."Cinema's Classic Romances"(SILKD-6018)...this their latest release "Apocalypse:Cinema Choral Classics", is no exception...BRILLIANT!

Under the watchful eye of producer James Fitzpatrick, choir master David Temple and the Crouch End Festival Chorus, conductors Nic Raine and Paul Bateman with The City Of Prague Philarmonic Orchestra...plus the original soundtrack orchestra with conductor Stepan Konicek on "THE NINTH GATE"(Wojciech Kilar), is mesmirizing, almost hypnotic in substance, beautiful solo by Charlotte Kinder.

Entire album is a must have for "film-score-buffs", and if Silva Screen Classics continue to do such an outstanding job, my collection will go through the rafters.

4.0 out of 5 stars I liked most of this CD. 17 Feb 2002

I wish the majority of tracks were a little more haunting. My favorite track was VIDE COR MEUM. Unfortunately, it's the shortest track on the CD. A lot of the pieces are very recognizable. They blend together well. It doesn't feel like a typical "soundtrack" CD.
5.0 out of 5 stars Wow 18 May 2012

Spectacular, accessible, panoramic. 3 parts Carmina Burana, 1 part Handel arias, 1 part Armed Forces Symphony with organ. Extremely creative arrangements--these folks always have their own playbook done well. Well recorded, did not hear any of the keening whine of many choral recordings.
