ACCLAIM FOR STUART HARRISON:

‘Harrison is set to become a literary star’ Mirror

‘Harrison’s first novel is an accomplished [mix] of Kes and The Horse Whisperer’ Mail on Sunday

‘A heartfelt story by a distinctive new voice’ Paullina Simons

'A smart, absorbing novel which grapples subtly with the idea that things are rarely black and white…even with murder, things are rarely what they seem' Daily Mail

Product Description

A novel of romantic suspense, set on the beautiful Greek island of Ithaca, from the author of STILL WATER and THE SNOW FALCON.

When Robert French travels to the Greek island of Ithaca after his archaeologist father goes missing, he meets Alex, a young woman in search of her roots and the truth about her grandmother's exile from the island sixty years earlier. Gradually it seems possible that there is a link between an ancient treasure that Robert's father spent many years searching for and the tragic events surrounding Alex's grandmother during the Second World War.

But the beautiful tranquillity of the island is deceptive. Suddenly Alex vanishes, and Robert is embroiled in a desperate search, for the woman and for the solution that had evaded his father. To find the truth he must come to understand his own past and learn to face the troubled relationships that have dominated his life.

Atmospheric, tense and compelling, this blend of classical myth with ancient and recent history creates a memorable and thrilling novel.

a lacklustre tale 4 Jan 2006
Format:Paperback
This is a reasonable enough story of war time betrayals viewed from a modern-day perspective, but overall I felt it never really got going. It lacked suspense and the characters failed to engage or interest me. Pretty mediocre.

Great Book 27 Oct 2009
Format:Hardcover
I really enjoyed this book. I started to read it on a cruise and I had not finished it so I went to Amazon and got it from a charity and finished it . As I said it was a great story and I recommend it for 16's and above as it has a couple of bad words.

Creates a feel for place & time 10 Nov 2006
By S. Gilchrist - Published on Amazon.com
Format:Paperback
A simple love story combined with reconciliation between generations. Stuart Harrison paints a picture of life and scenery of a Greek Island and the contrast between life there and in the world's more busstling cities. Set in the present day the story moves back to the German occupation during WWII telling the story of the affects of a liaison between a Greek girl and a German officer through the exploration by their grandaughter who is visiting looking for answers. The man she meets on the island is himself the estranged son of an Englishman who had lived there for many years, he is trying to understand his late father better. Together they get involved in puzzling events which provide the answers they seek and form the link between then and now. Well written, flows easily and keeps the attention to the end.
