Aphrodite is a really good read as long as you don't think too hard or analyse too much. I sped through it in a few days and found it easy and entertaining reading. A few niggly things - Andrews leaves the characters in the dark to the extent that, when things need explanation, he has to resort to pages and pages of report-style clarification which breaks the flow of the book rather; a very minor but nonetheless annoying factual inaccuracy - the character drives from Luton to round the M25 to Devon and has lunch in Oxford!; and the justification for the violence and killing (and basically the entire story) is only briefly touched upon and, to my mind, doesn't really stand up to proper scrutiny. That said, I did really like the book and wouldn't hesitate to recommend it as an extremely enjoyable read.
