I bought this training cd with no scholarly knowledge whatsoever of 3d Modelling or even 2d modelling. However i was giving it a proper go as it were, and i found this vcd to be a wee bit too basic.
This vcd shows a working example of what every button does, and then suggests what you can do with it.
It's hard to describe exactly what the author has done to leave out important information, but it certainly is limited (you'll understand what I'm saying if you watch it). It's 8 hours long, and can probably be watched and reviewed comfortably over a week to understand (and to a certain extent - master) the concepts he is showing you. There isnt a book to go with the DVD, however this isn't too much of a problem as you can always look up the area you are having difficulty with in the handy menu -watch it again, and see what it was you missed out.
Another thing that's not obvious from the above description is that this vcd was created with RHINO-3D ver.3 and at the time of writing this review we are using RHINO-3D ver.4. The difference to me at first glance between the different versions is more buttons in some places and less in others. But you can still learn the basics from these videos as they are still very similar(sometimes where there was 8 buttons there is 9 - not a big problem). Lessons which appled to ver.3 still apply to 4 in many cases.
At this point i found that i couldn't really understand why it had cost so much for me to buy this vcd.
This cd is certainly useful and is a great way to learn the basics of Rhino 3d, but it's not worth the money you pay for the 'hard copy' in my opinion. It is of course possible to download the entire collection of lessons from the creators distribution company website (apex) and have access to them for a limited time for a reduced price. It also gives you access to every other 'video' course they have created.
