"Anywhen" is a collection of short stories written by James Blish, being Blish one the most influential writers of the Golden Age of science fiction. Too bad he died from cancer in the seventies, because I'm pretty sure he wrote better books and would continue to do so.
If I'm not mistaken, "Anywhen" collects six different stories. It goes from stories about spies who sell secrets, overprotective alien species, alien medicine to a couple of other stories I couldn't quite understand. Well, aliens is one of the main themes. From all the short stories, the one I considered interesting was one where an human doctor travels to a planet inhabited by a species of almost impossibly tall aliens, with the propurse of enhancing their medical system, but ends up having a few surprises himself.
Some of this stories are quite interesting in principle, but they were probably somehow badly executed because they fall short of the smallest expectations. They do make sense but don't have that don't special spark, so after a while they get boring.
"Anywhen" appears to be an anthology where the author experimented, because they're unsual now and forty years ago they would probably be fairly strange and very hard to sell.
Wouldn't recommend, but it's up to you.
Till next time,
