This is the cool Crosby voice circa 1954-1960 backed with overdubbed Ken Barnes arrangements from the mid seventies. Originally Bing was backed by a simple trio on these recordings and Bing himself suggested they would require some embellishment. They have been skillfully overdubbed but Bing's voice is very upfront and these tracks represent the highlights from these radio show sessions over a 6 year period. And "Straight down the Middle" is worth the price of admission alone! Neillo from Harlow.

I remember reading reviews of these recordings when they were first released and have often wondered what happened to them. From memory, the original recordings were of Crosby accompanied by the Buddy Cole Trio. These were incorporated into fresh arrangements I believe by Ken Barnes and/or Pete Moore. The resulting recordings are therefore ostensibly, of Bing Crosby with the Pete Moore Orchestra in good quality stereo probably using some of the uk's top session musicians. The overall result is great with Bings voice in good shape and well upfront of the band. This set of 50 - yes, 50! tracks deserves much better packaging, with maybe session photos if available and details of the story of how the sessions came about and who was involved in them. I paid �2.50 for this double cd and would have happily paid at least a tenner if the release had been more like those made by Verve for instance. Anyway buy it - you won't be disappointed!

I did not say that it was backed with overdubbing by Ken Barnes arrangements from the mid seventies. These are the songs that I have been looking for a long time. In essence this is Bing remixed; it has taken awhile for me to work this out. Though it could have done with 'Its not for me to say', which would have belonged there, though I have a copy of that song, and it was that song that led me to want to hear more from this. Check out 'Unchained Melody', Did Sinatra ever, really...
