2.0 out of 5 stars Any Gun Can Play 10 Sep 2009
Format:DVD
This is one of Enzo G Castalleri's less impressive stabs at the spaghetti western genre. The story is a remake of the Good the Bad and the Ugly and Gil Roland, George Hilton and Edd Brynes play the lead roles. Theres a decent amount of action but theres also alot of fistfights aswell.

The worst part of the film is Franceso De Masi's music score it has an anoying theme song and then some stupid circus music played around the fistfights.

3.0 out of 5 stars Average spaghetti western 7 Oct 2008
Format:DVD|Amazon Verified Purchase
Basic story..3 individuals each have a clue to the whereabouts of a fortune in stolen gold. Deceit and betrayal is rife as they double cross each other time and again in an attempt to be the one who will get the gold.
Yes the story is ripped off from "Good the bad and the ugly" and is obviously not in that league, but it's still an entertaining and mostly ok western. The film contains lots of action and there is also some good imaginative direction from Enzo G Castellari. What I really dislike, however, is the odd really silly moment that comes now and again. For example, during some of the fight scenes the film almost turns to a slapstick farce where it speeds up and becomes completely unrealistic. This aside it's quite a good spaghetti western and certainly never becomes too dull.

3.0 out of 5 stars It's Not All Bad 25 Aug 2011
Format:DVD
Yes I would agree with the first reviewer that this movie is not entirely sucessful. But you are not to take it entirely seriously. Any Gun Can Play is a semi-comedic pastiche of the Italian western genre which at the time - 1967 - was in full tilt production wise. The opening scene has a gunman dressed like Clint Eastwood in Leonie's movies, accompanied by a Lee Van Cleef lookalike in Mortimer clothes and another in dressed like Django and having them killed off by another mysterious bounty hunter. Yes it does have outright steals from the Dollars movies in story and indeed whole scenes are lifted, and it does have an amusing variation of the three way duel at the climax. If you like westerns then I can think of worse examples than this to watch on a rainy Saturday afternoon.
