Any Day Now THE QUALITY RECORDS STORY 1960 - 1962 features the Canadian label founded in Toronto in 1950.

The company released Canadian artists but also a lot of stuff from American (USA) labels under their banner.

This realease on 3 Cds has 75 original recordings.

These sets really are a steal at this price.

Why are these releases so reasonably priced I hear you ask?

The simple reason that these sets are as cheap as chips is that the tracks are public domain.

That means the rights to the music has gone and any old Dick or Harry can release them.

The bad news for the previous rights holders' means good news for us, the buyers for if the price is too high we will not buy.
So the sets are at a more than reasonable price.
Next year the law changes to fall in line with the Americans and the 50 year rule will be finished but that will apply only to stuff released after 1963.
(Thanks to AJ Taylor for putting me right)

But Amazon have scrunched up all the tracks making it hard for people to read which tracks let alone which artist is on so I've spaced them out making it easier to read.

This is a really high standard compilation of terrific early 60s American R&B. There are well written and interesting notes on each track included in the accompanying booklet.

Firstly..the Chuck Jackson song "Any Day Now" which kicks off the whole thing is just jaw-dropping sensational. There's no other description for it! if you enjoy real Soul music, or you have any liking at all for R&B, then I urge you to listen to this beautiful tune if you don't already know it. It has become one of my most favourite songs of all time.

After that sort of terrific start, you'd think the rest of the CD would struggle to keep up the high standard. No problem - it's all good, much of it very, very good indeed. Strongly recommended.

I have not played it often but it will go in my new car. A great varied selection. Songs I have not heard. Good value.
