This book is deeply insightful. The title should not be taken too literally as you can train to be either a hacker or an administrator; the book caters for both, it all depends on you.

As you progress, only the latest websites will meet your needs for patches, etc, but this book is the best place to start. A controversial book in essence but keep this in mind: -

The best cops are criminals and the best criminals are cops.
