Anti-Semitism and the Holocaust second edition
This new edition of 'Anti-Semitism and the Holocaust' is designed for the AS and A2 topics for AQA and OCR B. It covers the origins of anti-Semitism from the nineteenth century, and traces the events that took place in Germany from 1933 to 1945. The anti-Semitic views of Hitler are analysed as is the means by which these views shaped the racial state in the Third Reich. The impact of the Second World War and the events which led ultimately to the Final Solution are then assessed.

All of these events are also considered within the wider historiographical debates which have surrounded this period of history, from questions on who should ultimately bear the blame, to issues of Holocaust denial.

Throughout the book, key dates, terms and issues are highlighted, and historical interpretations of key debates are outlined. Summary diagrams are included to consolidate knowledge and understanding of the period, and exam-style questions and tips written by examiners provide the opportunity to develop exam skills.

This book is suitable for a variety of courses including the following specifications:
AQA Unit 2: Anti-Semitism, Hitler and the German People, 1919-45
OCR B Topic 4: Debates about the Holocaust

As a teacher this is a useful tool in attempting to teach such a difficult subject. As with other such titles, Access to History, have once again set out the text in a way which is applicable to students on an A level course. Useful for those on the AEB modern european course and those, who from curriculum 2000, will study (AEB) unit 6 - the Holocaust. A must in every school & college library and an affordable price for many students or departments. Up-to-date, analytical and compelling.

A wonderful book, that gives accurate details concerning the origins of anti-semitism and how it escalated during Hitler's reign and throughout the second world war. The clarity of this book is excellent, with clear sections and explanations at the end of each chapter. This is an ideal book for students, with relevant questions on the end of each chapter, getting them to write down what they have just read. This is a must!

This is a superb resource for any student studying A-level history and in particular anyone who needs help in a question along the lines of who was the main instigator of the Final Solution. After using thissource to help with my coursework i believe i got an A or B. All quotes were attributed to the author via footnotes. What i liked abpout this book was that there was limited opinionistic interpretation throughout except, of course at the very end when the author makes his own conclusion. What also impressed me was the fact that even though i read the conclusion of Mr Farmer i didnt come to the same one. This shows how unbiased the author writes.

Throughout the book there are numerous sub chapters that focus on a particular group or person and how they conributed to the steps towards The Final Solution. This book is written clearly and concisely and fails to cloud the readers mind due to opinions of the author on how to interpret evidence given.

A faultless resource for anyone interested in The `Final Solution'
