5.0 out of 5 stars Fantastic! 19 April 2008
By Jenny A
Format:Paperback
This book really sparks the imagination! I bought this to top up an order and dont regret it! One of my children just "doesnt do drawing" and said at 11 she was "too old for colouring in". I gave her this and she didnt out it down for days, completing page after page of detailed and imaginative artwork.
The book gives the idea, a basic start such as "design a stamp for the first postcard sent from Mars" and a postcard outline... or "The artist hurt his thumb as he was starting his picture, can you help him out?" and they are off! Great for any child who has difficulty with imaginative artwork or who has trouble creating something pleasing from scratch :)

5.0 out of 5 stars I can't get enough of these books! 25 Aug 2004
By L. White VINE™ VOICE
Format:Paperback|Amazon Verified Purchase
I first saw this book on someone else's bookshelf, and just had to track down my own copy. Since then I've bought several more, because the children love them! So much better than the colour-the-spaces-and-don't-go-over-the-lines books, these books encourage children to use their imagination. I tried to get one for myself, but the children saw it and I lost it again!
Draw the new fish that's been discovered, draw the picture that goes with the report of the first alien to land on earth, draw your nightmare, draw your daydream. Simple enough for a young child to use (it helps if they can read the few words of instruction) and inspiring enough for older children, up to teenagers (older than that will probably think it's not "cool" until they reach adulthood!). Because you're drawing your own designs all the time, the children are even asking for second and third copies of the book.

5.0 out of 5 stars Just wish I'd come up with the idea! 1 Sep 2008
By Blondie
Format:Paperback
As a counsellor working extensively with children of all ages, both sexes and from all backgrounds with a whole host of issues, I find this book invaluable in unlocking some of their unconscious thoughts and opening up lines of communication. But most of all, it's great fun. Think I should be receiving royalties for the sales I have actively encouraged. Cannot recommend it highly enough.

5.0 out of 5 stars Ace when your 7 ace when you're 27!!! 13 Aug 2008
Format:Paperback
I had one of these when I was about 10. It didn't have the same cover but all the same things are in it. It's fantastic! It really gets you thinking and the imagination flowing. These are great to finish, keep and look back on. In mine, I had to draw a scene of what the world would be like in 2001! I had flying cars and robots! Makes me laugh now! Would recommend this book to anyone of any age. It's really clever and enormous fun!!!

5.0 out of 5 stars Brilliant! Buy One...or two!! 10 April 2008
Format:Paperback
I bought this for my ten year old daughter who is art mad! Ordinary colouring books are OK but limit creativity to "what colour shall I use next?" This book is wonderful, it asks the user to think about what they want to draw by starting with the germ of an idea and then letting the user decide where to take it from there!
My daughter and her friends were facinated by it!
Excellent for home, school, play groups, after school clubs etc.

5.0 out of 5 stars Inspiring and imaginative 21 July 2001
By A Customer
Format:Paperback
This book is a must for those who want to draw but have no inspiration. It is jammed full of fun and unusual starting points. These can also be used to inspire writing in a literacy hour. A good resouce for busy teachers.

3.0 out of 5 stars The Anti Colouring Book 16 Mar 2009
Format:Paperback
I bought this as I have happy memories of doing it when I was a child. It went down well with both kids (boy of 8 and girl of 6), although only kept them entertained for an afternoon, during which time they didn't get through the whole book. They haven't gone back to it since then, but I am hoping they will! On reflection it would have been better to have given it to my daughter when she is a bit older - perhaps 7 is a better age for it.

4.0 out of 5 stars Consider chlild's age before buying 3 April 2012
Format:Paperback|Amazon Verified Purchase
I bought this for my 6-year-old. I thought she would enjoy it, since she is really very imaginative. I had actually checked the preview before ordering and found it quite refreshing - finally, a drawing book that gets you going and creating instead of just adding colour and staying inside the lines. But my daughter did not know what to do with it. She needed my help in every page, telling her what a flag could be like and giving her ideas about aliens and post cards. And although i love spending time with her, I think that standing over her head and tell her what to draw is ruining the point of this book. Overall, I would recommend it, but for children that are a bit older (perhaps above 8 or 9 years old).
