Being a long time "mighty dells" fan. I would like to express my enjoyment of the anthology 2 c.d. edition. disc #1 was filled with vintage dells, with style and versitility. But disc #2 will really knock your socks off. It was a mixture of old and new sounds that was very well arranged and totally enjoyable.I believe this to be some of the best music of their illustrious career.I would recommend listeners old and new to buy and enjoy.

If the "Mighty Mighty" Dells had hailed from Detroit, Memphis, New York or Philly, there'd be hundreds of reviews of this disk instead of a paltry 7. But that was always the Dell's cross to bear. Like the great vocal groups of the 60's and 70's The Dells started as a doo wop outfit in the 50's but unlike the majority of those groups they were able to re-invent themselves and rise phoenix like again in the lates 60's, 70's and even the 80's. The Dells possessed on of the great RnB voices of all time in Marvin Junior. Only Levi Stubbs of the Four Tops and perhaps the late Teddy Pendergrass could step into the ring with Marvin and go toe to toe vocally. His voice is like the guns on a battle ship. Want proof, listen to "the note" at the end of the remake of "Stay in my Corner". Ella shattered glass with her voice, Marvin could bend steel!
A great collection of their works with old and new versions of "Stay in my Corner" and "Oh What a Night". My fave song though are "Always Together" and "The Love We Had (Stays on my Mind)". Masterful music from one of the great un-sung RnB vocal groups in history. Get this, you need it.

I was very young when The Dells were popular, but have never forgotten how much I loved their music. This compilation brought it all back to me. I requested it as a Xmas gift, and am very pleased with it and the background info in the jacket.
