5.0 out of 5 stars One of the best games ever!!! 26 Feb 2007
Fun: 5.0 out of 5 stars
I was just thinking about this game today, when I saw this new release!!

It's a really old game (15 years already? wow, time goes fast) and I played it (and finished it) several times on my Amiga.

If you are not familiar with it, know that you are a scientinst working in a lab trying to do some experiments on dimensional portals, and eventually a lightning strikes and bam! You find yourself in another alien dimension. It's mostly a puzzle game (similar to the old Prince of Persia of that time) and it will completely immerge you into the alien world.

If this is the exact same game, and you are a teenager, don't buy it. You will most likely be disappointed by the primitive graphics and 2-D. But if you have an open mind and want to know more about one of those Epic games that was...give it a go. But treat it like a modern Adventure game.

Enjoy!

5.0 out of 5 stars Awesome game! 18 Mar 2007
Fun: 5.0 out of 5 stars
My dad had this game on his Commodore Amiga, and it is without a doubt one of the greatest games of all time! Me and my brother absolutely loved this and we both played it to death!

To those who have never played or even heard of this game before, you play the role of Lester Chaykin who has been zapped into a strange alien world by a lightning storm whilst doing an experiment at a laboratory. The world he has entered is a very dark world full of deadly creatures, traps, slavery and war. You eventually befriend an alien (who you meet early on as your cell mate as you are eventually captured), and together the two of you must try to escape the city of which both of you are being held.

The reason why this game is such a favourite among many gamers is because of one thing... the sheer imagination! The amount of effort that was put into creating the alien world is fantastic. All of the locations and creatures are beautifully realised, and although the graphics look dated the superb animation still shines through today as it did back in 1991. Even the tiniest details, such as Lester opening a can of pop, still makes me smile.

But it's not just the brilliant world and its inhabitants that make this game great. The game's atmosphere makes you feel like you are Lester himself. Every scene in the game is packed full of little details. One example is that in the first scene, as you are walking across a land full of rocks, you can hear the wind whistling in the background. Occasionally the screen will also shake and you'll hear a rumbling sound, as well as seeing small rocks falling in the background! :)

Another thing to note is that because it is set in a dark alien world, you'd expect it to be scary right? Well guess what... Another World succeeds at that too!

3.0 out of 5 stars Excellent game/ DRM ruined 28 Dec 2011
Verified Purchase
Fun: 4.0 out of 5 stars
Sorry to bother you all about this but ive only just found this out about this version so i thought i would at least share it with those who remember the game and are thinking about getting it in this version.

The digital rights management on the 15th Anniversary Edition CD-ROM is particularly draconian - upon installation, the game verifies the user's serial number through the Internet, allowing only for five installations of the game using any given serial number. Uninstallation does not reset the count, so after five installations, no matter the circumstance, one must purchase a new copy. This problem does not exist on the digital copy sold by Good Old Games. From ( [...] )

As you have read, be very carefull. The DRM is SECURom.

Excellent game that began a generation and a history in the computer gaming history, that is well worth the infuriating puzzles and gameplay to new players who was not there when this first arrived.

Fun: 5.0 out of 5 stars
An Excellent little game, i had never heard of this and just came across it as i was looking for a old school platformer to play on Windows Vista. It has what looks like really basic graphics but it just brings the world alive. I cant really explain it well but this game is really cool. Go and buy it....... NOW!

5.0 out of 5 stars One game, 2 Feb 2007
Fun: 5.0 out of 5 stars
This was one of the first games that really wow'ed me, yes today it may seem simplistic, but it truly was a master piece! One could say this will go down in legends of pc gaming with a good mix of 3d graphics, puzzles, gameplay, action, and a compelling storyline. At this price you won't be disapointed, but don't expect any Unreal 3 graphics....purely purchase this game if your 29 and older or just a game freak!
