Book Description

13 Mar 2006
Emma Litton can't get on with her life until she finds out just what place she has in her father's heart. She'd been at school in Europe since she was fourteen, then found a job in Paris, always wondering what her famous artist father was doing in Japan or America or at their cottage in Cornwall. Even after she meets Robert Morrow, the handsome gallery owner, and rediscovers her step-brother, Christo, she still feels compelled to probe into the truth about her past. But Emma might learn too late that it is the truth about herself she has to find and that letting go is the first step to keeping love.

2.0 out of 5 stars Not up to scratch 18 Sep 2010
This book was a disappointment to me. The idea was good but merited much more depth to explore the characters in more detail. I was rather surprised at how shallow the book was because normally Ms Pilcher is so good at drawing out her characters. Definately not up to her usual standard.

1.0 out of 5 stars Tedious, avoid 21 Jan 2012
Format:Paperback|Verified Purchase
Very tedious, 2d characters and filled with clichés. Avoid!

If this is your first encounter with Rosamunde Pilcher I pity you. Go for one of her great novels such as:
The Shell Seekers
Coming Home
Winter Solstice

3.0 out of 5 stars Another view 4 April 2013
By Mad mac
Format:Audio CD
I loved this story listened to it when driving and hardly noticed the long boring journey but then I came to the end of the story it just stopped mid sentence one of the main characters was looking at the past blaming her partner and realised she was part to blame 'I was there to I' then the cd ended I was so upset that when I've time I intend to contact publishers, to see if it was a fault on the cd I hope so!! No writer/editor would surely end a story mid-sentence would they???

1.0 out of 5 stars Should be listed as a 'short story' !!! 2 May 2014
Format:Paperback|Verified Purchase
I felt very dissapointed in this book. Amazingly short and therefore lacking in story development. So bad value and not to be recommended. A great pity that Amazon do not make it clear that it is so brief before you purchase. Very unhappy. Expected more from this author.

5.0 out of 5 stars Rosamunde Pilcher 5 Jun 2013
Format:Paperback|Verified Purchase
I enjoyed the story, but would not have
bought it if I have seen it in a shop as I feel the full retail price is too much for such a thin book

1.0 out of 5 stars Another View ... perhaps the only one. 7 May 2012
By Jo Lygo
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
This was my first Rosamunde Pilcher novel. We watched a German company filming a scene for 'Stolen Summer' for German TV at Truro cathedral a few weeks ago which sparked my interest. I chose 'Another View' because the blurb included Paris, Cornwall and the 'art world'.
Others have written about the story itself - I found it predictable and overwritten. I realise I am 'picky' about things but I was irritated by the seeming lack of attention to editing/proof reading. For instance, there were several typos, although I did like 'riling cabinet'; 'Hester' became 'Harriet' in one paragraph; the 'green room' became 'the producer's office'; there was a 'lay-by' on the M4. The punctuation at times seemed somewhat random with an over-profusion of commas and sentences full of 'and'. The overall impression was that of it being rushed through and without adequate editing. What a disappointment.

1.0 out of 5 stars Big Disapointment 24 July 2010
Format:Paperback|Verified Purchase
Having loved Shell seekers and a few other titles I found this book very juvenile and trivial. Perhaps I have matured!

2.0 out of 5 stars Easy but not great read
Published in 1968 this book feels rather dated and it is also very short. It was an easy read but there seemed no great depth to the characters and the plot was pretty thin. Read more

1.0 out of 5 stars Disappointing
Chosen by a member of our book club, so had to read it, but there was no story and I didn't engage with the main characters. A poor Mills and Boon style book. Sorry, Rosamunde.
