I have owned several copies of this brilliant book over the years, along with it's twin, A Very First Poetry Book. I have used it in all my nursery and reception classes, and with Special Needs children, and have had the pleasure of seeing parents of pupils buy it for themselves! I know I don't exaggerate when I say that these books have been the first step towards a love of poetry in many of the children I have worked with (including my own three daughters and four grandchildren!) Does anyone out there have copies of both books they would like to sell?

My four and a half year old LOVES this book - he even takes it to bed!! He loves the index of first lines, and finding the poems.
His favourite poem is "Bananas & Cream". He has already asked for A Second Poetry Book!

I really rate this book. I have worn out so many copies - my teaching wouldn't have been the same without it. The children all have their favourite poems and they love the mud poem when I substitute their names into the text. This book has inspired a love of poetry into so many young children. Now, I am sharing it with my grandson. Thank you John Foster!
