Two quarters of the legendary CSN&Y group captured live in Los Angeles in 1971... and it's everything you would expect from these performers and that era. David Crosby and Graham Nash were great friends offstage too, and their personal, as well as musical, chemistry can be heard in the relaxed (like, groovy!) repartee between songs, while the all-acoustic show finds them digging through their CSN&Y and solo songbooks.
At one point Crosby jokes that this is "the loosest show on earth" and he's got a point. But his own songs are well suited to the improvisational, jazzy, acoustic feel and the two voices weave and harmonize beautifully. It's definitely a chill-out album, and a great way to uncover some of Crosby's criminally neglected solo gems.
By the way, this is DVD-Audio, not a CD which means it has to be played on a DVD player. You get on-screen access to the liner notes, lyrics, sound options, and a bonus 'easter egg' track.
A great buy for CSN&Y fans or anyone who enjoys chilled-out acoustic bliss from the brotherly love era...

Ok, well not quite, but they staggered on stage and recorded this in the 70s, which is as good as. I bought this on the strength of being a CSN fan, and of Crosby and Nash's early solo stuff. It's an entirely acoustic (and piano) concert recorded from the early 70s and it's ace. Lots of chit chat between the songs which include some of the lesser heard (but still great)songs by both. CSNY ended but these two just carried on anyway. Why aren't the concerts I go to like this?? Buy without fear exisitng fans, and those who like acoustic/harmony type-stuff, you will not be disappointed. Real value too, over 70 mins of music.
Stephen who??

Superbly recorded by Stephen Barncard of If I Could Only Remember My Name by David Crosby, this concert from October 10th 1970 shows how good their rapport had become. The songs and in between patter are great - wish that I had been there! This is the next best thing. Highly recommended.

Tested on Michell Orbe turntable with SME Series V tonearm and Dynavector XX-1L cartridge.
This is a historic concert, and very well recorded; a sublime experience listening. However the experience is spoiled by record one, and side two in particular, being pressed slightly off centre. The spindle hole is dead centre; it is the vinyl pressing which is off-centre and side two is worse than side one. This maifests in a marked wow especially in the second half of the side.
Sadly, in common with many expensive "audiophile" records on 180g vinyl being produced these days, not enough effort has gone into quality control.
Nevertheless a classic record. I hope that in subsequent pressings they fix the problem.

I bought this by mistake, not realising that it is an audio DVD. If I had realised I would not have bought it. Most of the music is well performed but is available on a number of Cds so I would suggest buying them instead of this audio DVD.
