Product Description

Product Description

Arguably the greatest comedy duo in show business history, Stan Laurel and Oliver Hardy delighted filmgoers and theatregoers for over thirty years. The public not only found Laurel's serene simpleton and Hardy's pompous buffoon hilarious, but they also thought of them as friends. Laurel and Hardy may have been nitwits, but they were loveable nitwits.

Another Nice Mess: The Laurel and Hardy Story explores the lives and careers of Laurel and Hardy. The book examines how the comedians teamed up and it explains why, nearly half a century after their deaths, their films continue to enchant people all over the world.

Raymond Valinoti, Jr.. is a resident of Berkeley Heights, NJ. He has a Master's in Library Science from Rutgers University and is a freelance researcher. His articles on film have been published in the magazines Midnight Marquee and Films of the Golden Age. He also writes film reviews for an online news publication, The Alternative Press.

Always love watching Laurel and Hardy films on dvd but knew very little about their lives. The book gives a fond insight into both their early lives and childhood plus the struggles to find and hold onto success. An enjoyable and yet informative read that will make anyone who likes to watch their movies even more fond of them. They will live on forever!

4.0 out of 5 stars This is an excellent, well balanced read 7 Aug 2014
Format:Kindle Edition
This is an excellent, well balanced read. It is a thin book at only 115 pages and might have benefitted from a few photographs. Uplifting to read about stars who weren't self centred perverts, as is often the case. Both partners of this comedy duo had generous, endearing personalities on and off the screen.

Not a bad read if like me you were looking to find out the background and what happened to the two comic geniuses after they stopped making movies but it is not very well written and is a bit of a slog for a very short book.
