I loved Carrie Nelson's first book and I love this one too. For all those times when you don't want to make a full-sized quilt, Carrie offers two sizes. Use 5 or 10 inch squares to make 12 different quilts in two sizes. Carrie doesn't do average or middling - her quilts are real stars. They consist of great design in good colourways. These are the kind of quilts I'd like to make and keep. Perfect for all skill levels, these quilts have real appeal. I hope there will be a third ed of Schnibbles next year. Beautifully laid out and easy to use with good instructions and photos - this should be in Santa's sack under the tree for every quilter. This review first appeared on the yarnsandfabrics website.

What could be better than to start making a quilt with part of the cutting already done for you? That is what this book is about.

Using 5" or 10" precut squares, you already have some of the work done for you. Of course, you can cut you own squares from yardage but what a great way to use those charm or layer cake packs you have.

13 pages of tips and techniques begin this book. Then you will find a dozen projects to choose from. The patterns are well written and easy to follow with a few graphics to help you along.

The only question I have is which charm/layer cake package do I want to start with!

Another Great Book by Carrie Nelson 7 Oct 2011
By Joe Fox - Published on Amazon.com
Format: Paperback
I loved Carrie Nelson's book "Schnibbles" and "Another Bite of Schnibbles" did not disappoint!

Carrie Nelson has designed quilts which can be put together using precut 5" or 10" squares. Each quilt is done twice, in different fabrics, one using 5" square and the other using 10". The truly unique thing about these patterns is that directions are given for each sized quilts, rather than written once and you are then told to adapt it for the larger or smaller quilt. I particularly love "Cindy Lou Who", "Two Percent" and "Winter White".

As with "Schnibbles" one of the best things about this book is Carrie Nelson's writing style. She's wonderful! I can honestly say that I have fun reading thought her "Field Guide to Schnibbles". She makes me laugh, and I actually learn something! What other author would have sections called "How to raise a schnibble" or "Embrace your inner presser". My favorite section is "Parts You'll Need Along the Way" which reads in it's entirety: "Batteries not included and some assembly is required. This is what you need to know about that."

"Another Bite of Schnibbles" is a fun book by a creative and humorous quilter!

The long and short of it... 1 Nov 2011

How nice to have a book offering a variety of sizes for quilts using 5" or 10" squares. The directions are very clear and the patterns are quite lovely. If you are in need of a small quilt in a hurry, you will find several options in this book. Sometimes I see a quilt and like it, but fear it might be too hard or time consuming.
With this book I have the opportunity to make a small quilt, as a trial, and then venture to a larger one using the same pattern. Pretty great idea!

Carrie has done it again! 27 Jan 2012
By Jennifer Kooy Zoeterman - Published on Amazon.com

Love. Love. Love. This book is fabulous. I want to sew every quilt. Each quilt is made in two sizes, from pre-cut 5" charm packs and 10" layer cakes. Yes, I know many other books are based on these pre-cuts, but this book made me finally understand the attraction. (I was probably the last hold-out.) I was inspired by Carrie's fresh and diverse color sense and loved her quotes. She writes the best basic directions I've ever read which are usually dry as dust. Her sense of humor pops up often while still still giving the reader accurate instructions. Buy it!

Greatness! 16 Jan 2012
By Sarah M. Bisel - Published on Amazon.com
Format: Paperback
I love all the quilts by Carrie Nelson. She designs the kinds of quilts I like to make. They are all pieced, which is my very favorite part of quilting, and all her designs are amazing. Each design works well in whatever fabric preference you have, which is the true test of great designing. For each quilt design there are two patterns: you can make the quilt using 10" squares or using 5" squares. I love that for each quilt, you get to see 2 colorways because she makes them with different precut lines.

My favorite? The Getaway pattern is really fun. It can blend well, or it can be striking and stark. I love it. I think it would be perfect for all my stacks of precuts. Yes, I have stacks of precuts waiting and longing for me to make use of them. If you are like me with stacks of fabric waiting to be sewn and cut, you should totally get this book. You will love it.

Can't wait to get started.... 7 Dec 2011

This is the first book I've ordered from Carrie Nelson and I started browsing through it immediately. The collection of quilt patterns in this book is just begging to be sewed. The finished quilts are beautifully photographed and the patterns are well written and can easily be followed by new quilters. I've already started collecting fabrics for some of the small quilts and plan on starting them after Christmas.
