I purchased this exact edition. It is really excellent in lay out, print, explanations, just every thing BUT the only thing missing are the headings within the text. Therefore when looking for a particular story or section of text for example "Saul made King" would be very difficult to find in this edition without reading through a huge chunk of I Samuel as it occurs in Chap 10: 9. But this would be my only criticism.

Some promotional summaries of the 3 rd edition New Oxford Annotated Bible (NRSV Augmented) may confuse prospective buyers who found the 2001 3 rd edition (Revised) helpful (it's now out of print but some 'new' copies can still be purchased).
I found it quite difficult to discern from the various descriptions what was the difference between the two editions - for example was the Augmented 3 rd edition a whole new version?
After a brief but careful comparison of the two editions I'm now content that the Augmented version doesn't omit any significant features of the earlier Revised version, but makes minor but relevant amendments to the commentaries here and there in the light of more recent scholarship. I have not so far noticed any actual 'augmented new features' but feel confident that if such exist they will be helpful and not represent a substantial change in the character of an edition that I like.
If you select a dozen page numbers at random throughout either edition you will have to look carefully to detect any difference between the two editions - in most cases they will be identical.
