Book Description

Kyle Riggs is in for a rough ride.

In ANNIHILATION, the seventh book of the Star Force Series, nothing goes as planned. The three fledgling human colonies in the Eden System are beginning to take hold, but the forces threatening to root them out are many. The Crustaceans are calling for help, despite the fact they are the sworn enemies of Star Force. Are they potential allies, or vicious tricksters? And why are the oceans of their world heating up?

Even as Riggs flies out to investigate the situation, more mysteries arise. The Blues are making vague threats, and Earth is suing for peace. Who is to be trusted, and who holds a dagger behind their backs?

ANNIHILATION is a military science fiction novel by bestselling author B. V. Larson. To find the first book in the series, search for SWARM. ANNIHILATION is the longest book in the series so far...

3.0 out of 5 stars Mixed feelings 27 Sept. 2013
By PaulD
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
I have read all of the books in this series up to an including this. The story in itself is actually quite good. They are an easy read and the plot twists are interesting and in some cases surprising. The biggest negative with the overall story is the main character - Kyle Riggs. He is a beer drinking, doughnut eating, misogynist that seems utterly impervious to developing any real depth of character, which is the weakness in the story. Even Marvin the robot manages to develop character across the series. Kyle has absolutely no moral dilemma ordering his troops on a one way suicidal mission (knowingly) but then displays moral angst at the death of microbes that are used in medical treatments. His personal relationship with women seem limited to him constantly sensing conversational traps that might be challenging so his default solution is just to have sex in the shower and that fixes everything. I am left with the sense that this character is based on the stereotype solider/leader of a country that is not known for the intellectual depth of its armed forces.

4.0 out of 5 stars Not the normal hero 3 Mar. 2013
Format:Kindle Edition
The book is a good read, as are the others in the series.

The main character is a champion of the biotic species who doesn't mind getting his hands dirty in the fight against the machines.

The statistics are more realistic than most for a war on such a global scale, it leaves you thinking is the cost of victory to high of a price to pay.

There are always updates to the technology and style of fighting so that the reader doesn't get bored with the same battle scenario again and again.

Overall I'm looking forward to the next in the series, hopefully it will be up to standard.

4.0 out of 5 stars Brilliant Continuation 2 Mar. 2013
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
This book is an exciting continuation of the Star Force series and develops all the known characters in interesting ways. We see massive battles and unbelievable destruction the likes of which have never been seen before. The story deserves all five stars but, unfortunately, there are a lot of typos that sometimes make the plot a little confusing or annoying (using "you're" instead of "your" for example) so for this reason I had give it just four.

4.0 out of 5 stars good story sad ending 12 Mar. 2013
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
the story was very good i must say that the loss of a major character from the series means i cant give it a full five stars as there is now a massive character void which in most series i've read and seen doesn't bode well for the story as a whole will wait for the next book before i decide whether or not to continue following the series any further

5.0 out of 5 stars Annihilation 2 May 2013
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
I found this book just as addictive as its predecessors and finished it in a weekend. B V Larsons descriptive writing takes you on an imaginative tale of a colony of upgraded humans turned into military personnel, other worlds, alien creatures and fighting for a species right to live. Looking forward to the next chapter in this series of books

3.0 out of 5 stars OK but not fresh. 19 Aug. 2013
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
The series has been quite good but its format is becoming a bit predictable, so it needs to end and the effort put into a new series. It's still a good read and you get close to the main characters.

5.0 out of 5 stars more riggs pigs please 21 Mar. 2013
Format:Kindle Edition
Yet again riggs adventures draws me in and i end up reading the whole thing making me think its only a short story. on the pervious book i moaned about how short it was only to realise i was so drawn in time escaped me. another brilliant book. If you havent read any of them its worth doing so. its a good way to spend a day with a few beers and a vape stick. lost in the world of kyle riggs. the next one is going to be a must for me.
