Product Description

Product Description

Marilla and Matthew Cuthbert are in for a big surprise. They are waiting for an orphan boy to help with the work at Green Gables - but a skinny, red-haired girl turns up instead. Feisty and full of spirit, Anne Shirley charms her way into the Cuthberts' affection with her vivid imagination and constant chatter. It's not long before Anne finds herself in trouble, but soon it becomes impossible for the Cuthberts to imagine life without 'their' Anne - and for the people of Avonlea to recall what it was like before this wildly creative little girl whirled into town.

About the Author

L. M. Montgomery was born in Clifton, Prince Edward Island, in 1874. A prolific writer, she published many short stories, poems and novels but she is best known for Anne of Green Gables and its sequels, inspired by the years she spent on the beautiful Prince Edward Island. Montgomery died in Toronto in 1942 and was buried in Cavendish on her beloved island.

I have enjoyed this book best out of all the Anne books. Anne is still a girl and is a big talker which she isn't when she is bigger. She says such amusing things sometimes. We also find it nice that Anne brings light to Mathew- the guardian of Anne.

One of my favourite parts is when Anne dyes her hair green. Her hair is actually red and it is a 'lifelong sorrow' to her. Her dreams are to make it black, a queenly black. She gets into al these scrapes and is always learning 'a little more'.

Another part which is good is when Marilla says: "But what good shall she do to us?" and Mathew replies, "We might be some good to her." which is quite true.

I strongly recommend this book to anyone of all ages.

I love this book. I didn`t buy it on the Kindle. I read it to my mum from the book. There is a girl called Anne Sherley. She does crazy things like getting her best friend drunk by accident, dying her hair green by accident and breaking her slate over her enemy`s head on purpose! It is a really good book an you should sooo read it.Yes, it is very old-fashioned and has very hard words but apart from THAT, the book is fab! 10/10 for me! Thanks, Anonymous x
