After hearing this band frequently on BBC6 Music I took a stab at the album. So many bands these days are very formulaic and at 51 years old and still exploring new music I was finding it difficult to find something that floated my boat so to speak. I guess being a long term fan of The Cramps didn't help things as most new bands never measure up.
Well folks....these guys do, in spades. It got me on the first listen which is rare, sure I can hear many influences here from the Velvets, JAMC at their feedback screeching noisiest and of course The Cramps and I wondered if these guys loved a bit of surf music too ?
Keep it up guys, this is the best new album this year by a long stretch...excellent !!

Really exciting stuff from this Brighton trio. I will confess at first I was intrigued by them because I thought they had a female singer, only to discover its actually a chap. I dunno why I had the idea maybe because of the name, so similar to actress Kristin Bell. Anyway, sorry mate, my bad!

Despite the absence of a female singer, which would have been awesome (have you considered a sex change Kristian? haha, kidding...) this is a great album. It has tons of angst, clever lyrics, lots of hardcore attitude and best of all - great songs! My favourites - and by that I mean I REALLY like these tracks - are Weights and Ties and Track 13. Which is kind of odd because I normally go for really hard guitar rock and these are two of the more 'ballad' type tracks on the album. But they are brilliant songs which most importantly, don't sound like anyone else. The others which I feel really stand out are Fragile Male and Summer Again. Now that's four classic songs on one record. Normally I am really happy if I get two.

I have high hopes for this band and I'm really looking forward to their next album. Apart from Savages I had pretty much given up on British music I must be honest but these guys have given me reason to hope that there is still pockets of fire on the rainy old island that hasn't been totally extinguished.

One of the best albums of 2014. Great depth and range of songs.
Bit of a cross between Black Sabbath and the Seeds... closest similar contemporaries are the Arctic Monkeys but the Wytches are rawer
with boundless energy....ones to watch in the future.

Eveything I was expecting! I was aware there may not be a cellophane wrapper but the CD still came with a small insert of stickers! No problems encountered...many thanks!

Quite like it but a bit one-paced. Wire Frame Mattress the standout track for me.
