Love it!!,
By Genevadiva "Genevadiva" (Geneva) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Anna Richardson's Body Blitz: Five Rules for a Brand New You (Paperback)
This book is the lastest in a fairly long line of diet books on my shelves, only different in one way....It hasn't had time to sit on the shelf. It is my little bible!!! If I'm not filling myself with the delicious meals I have my nose in the book being spoilt for choice as to what to cook next time. Never have I been as enthused to follow a diet in such a way before. As Anna Richardson says herself 'It's not rocket science.' There really is nothing very revolutionary in this book, just the easiest rules to stick to and the most divine recipes I have ever seen in a diet book. The key here, as pointed out in the book, is organisation and eating regularly. This educates your body in better habits. My fridge has never been so full and I have wasted far less food than ever before! After 10 days I have lost 5lbs without any real effort. I wholeheartedly recommend this book. If you visit the website you will find a short video of Anna making one of recipes and she rightly says you could just buy this as a recipe book.Love it!!

This review is from: Anna Richardson's Body Blitz: Five Rules for a Brand New You (Paperback)
I was attracted to this book as I have seen Anna on Supersize v Superskinny and seen her trial loads of diets. It's a shame it's sold as a diet book in a way as it is actually a fab cook book and the word diet can put some people off buying it.It's best to read the book properly but there isn't too much waffle to go through at the beginning like other books that you get bored with before you've even started. I have lost 7lb in the first week which is incredible and I don't feel deprived at all. Initialy it seems quite strict No Wheat no dairy no sugar no carbs after 6pm no alcohol but this is only for the first two weeks. However when you look closely No wheat - there are substitute foods you can have instead, you are allowed milk in drinks to make it easier, no sugar is all the bad stuff that would make you fat anyway. No carbs after 6pm have your carbs for breakfast and lunch instead and no alcohol that would be hard for some people but again there are different drinks you can have as to not feel deprived e.g like cheats gin n tonic which I have been enjoying instead. What I love about this book is that there are family receipes and recipes you can have as a couple, as this is where I have always fallen down in the past getting fed up with cooking multiple meals. Also diet food can be boring but Anna suggests tasty options and things you can add to food that I never thought were possible with dieting. E.g. This weekend I cooked the low fat curry which my husband said was gorgeous. He had his with rice, naan and popadoms as he doesn't need to diet and I had the curry as I cooked it with a tiny bit of rice as after 6pm and it was enough for both of us. For the family I cooked a ham joint, which I had as Anna suggests with baked apple slices bit like cheats roast potatos apple gravy and loads of veg and my children and husband had it the traditional way. We've even had Sausage mash and gravy, again mine the cheats way. The soups have been easy to make and one night I did the sticky chicken which did not taste like diet food at all and took the left overs to work the following day. I would say that lunches take some planning if you are used to just having a sandwich and you have to have quite a lot of fresh ingredients in the house. My husband has loved my new enthusiasm for cooking the receipes have been a revelation more what can I cook tonight rather than what am I allowed. Each recipe tells you what you you can eat it with and different variations. There are meal, snack and drink ideas + what to go for if eating out. At the end of the two weeks I intend to still follow the rules but relax them a little bit. It's just being mindful of what is bad for you in the first place. For me the results speak for themselves. It's your choice at the end of the day it's what works best for you. I would definetely recommend this book.

Better as a eating guide than a diet...,
By Danielle (Manchester, UK) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Anna Richardson's Body Blitz: Five Rules for a Brand New You (Paperback)
My boyfriend and I started this 'eating plan' a week ago (we are both 26) and we have seen noticeable differences, both good and bad, since then. Have we lost any weight - yes. Have we lost any inches - yes. Do we feel better in ourselves - debatable. We decided to follow the plan on the Sunday, wrote a list of the foods we would eat for the following week and the ingredients we would need and purchased them on the Monday ready to start the plan on the Tuesday. Here is a quick summary; Day 1 - pleasantly surprised that the muesli breakfast did not need any additional sugar. Soup for lunch was lovely but the portion size was much smaller than we would normally eat. After dinner we were still feeling hungry but put that down to cravings for things we had cut out as the only thing we actually wanted to eat was chocolate. Day 2 - 4 - portion sizes were more manageable and started to fill us more but our moods got progressively worse throughout the week. For the past 4 days we have been bickering and snapping at each other and although we are feeling full from our meals we are not feeling satisfied. My boyfriend was feeling very faint as well. Day 5&6 - It's the weekend and we have decided that although we will not go overboard we will relax and eat what we want (in moderation) to see if we feel better. Day 7 - Back to the eating plan and feel much better in ourselves. No more bickering, no cravings for the things we have cut out and feel better. It is now day 1 of the following week and although we have deviated from the written plan I can honestly say I feel a 100% better. I think that removing so much all at once to follow the rules was too much of a shock to the system and not good at all. I have learn't that my boyfriend needs much larger portions than me (which aren't really catered for in the book) but I can provide him with this as I now understand the rules. I do intend to be a bit more leniant again at the weekend but only because that is what works for us. From this book I have learn't to control my portion sizes and that it is easy to make tasty meals when I get in from work (I don't have to make things at weekend to freeze which usually end up being things like lasagne. I also save money on not having to go out and buy my lunches at work too. If you want to lose weight and eat healthily then I would recommend this book, simply for the recipes which are easy to cook when you get in from work (I get in from work at 7pm and I don't mind cooking them). But I would also advise you to bear in mind that if you, like me, don't overeat but do eat the wrong things, you may find it difficult to stick to the plan and feel better from it. I will definitely continue to use the book but I will use it as more of a guide rather than a full out eating plan as it just didn't work for us.
