I was attracted to this book as I have seen Anna on Supersize v Superskinny and seen her trial loads of diets. It's a shame it's sold as a diet book in a way as it is actually a fab cook book and the word diet can put some people off buying it.

It's best to read the book properly but there isn't too much waffle to go through at the beginning like other books that you get bored with before you've even started. I have lost 7lb in the first week which is incredible and I don't feel deprived at all.

Initialy it seems quite strict

No Wheat
no dairy
no sugar
no carbs after 6pm
no alcohol

but this is only for the first two weeks.

However when you look closely No wheat - there are substitute foods you can have instead, you are allowed milk in drinks to make it easier, no sugar is all the bad stuff that would make you fat anyway. No carbs after 6pm have your carbs for breakfast and lunch instead and no alcohol that would be hard for some people but again there are different drinks you can have as to not feel deprived e.g like cheats gin n tonic which I have been enjoying instead.

What I love about this book is that there are family receipes and recipes you can have as a couple, as this is where I have always fallen down in the past getting fed up with cooking multiple meals. Also diet food can be boring but Anna suggests tasty options and things you can add to food that I never thought were possible with dieting.

E.g. This weekend I cooked the low fat curry which my husband said was gorgeous. He had his with rice, naan and popadoms as he doesn't need to diet and I had the curry as I cooked it with a tiny bit of rice as after 6pm and it was enough for both of us.

I started the body blitz diet last saturday 2nd Jan and I have already lost 7llb! Wow- I am so happy. This is just the kick start I needed. I work long hours and have a husband and 3 kids to look after but I have not felt hungry because I have got the snacks ready or a large bowl of soup that fills you up easily. There are some lovely ideas for me and the kids- filling soups that they all like with rye bread for me. The porridge and muesli are great for breakfast and the fruit salad an easy one on work days. I'm really determined to loose weight and I do not mind cutting out some foods to start with. The recipes are great and the pictures inspiring. I have made my family the chilli con carne, mexican chicken and lemony chicken with parma ham. While the diet is not for children, I found the recipes easy to slot into everyday life. My husband-who does not have as much to loose as me- has a portion of the meal with rice or potatoes and I make up an extra portion to take too work for lunch the next day so saving me the worry of what to eat. My husband- eating carbs- but following all the other rules has lost 6lb this week , and is very happy ! My friends want to try the diet, so I'm buying a couple more books to give as late christmas presents. Looking forward to the roast pork tomorrow with the family and the meatballs on monday.

I don't usually write reviews, but this book has really made a difference to me. I have been trying to shift my "excess stone" for about 7 years now, since having my children and despite exercising hard 5 times a week, my weight simply would not budge. I have tried Anna's "5-rule" diet for 3 weeks and have now lost around half a stone. I haven't stuck to it religiously, but have followed the rules 80% of the time and intend to stick with it until I lose another half stone at least.

The rules are very simple and very clever because if you stick to them, it is actually very difficult to over-eat. Anna doesn't state a calorie allowance, so I have been counting everything and trying to stay under 1400 calories per day. It's also nice, because unlike most other "detox" type diets, you can still have caffeine. When I am dieting, I need my coffee and diet cokes to help me through !

I would argue that Anna has 6 rules, as she also states "no potatoes", but the main 5 are:-
1. No wheat - and also no gluten free alternatives. This isn't as bad as you would think as you can have rice, rye bread, ryvita etc
2. No dairy - you can still have 1/2 pint of milk per day for tea and coffee, so this isn't difficult. I occasionally miss yogurt or cheese, but overall it's fine.
3. No sugar - luckily I don't have a sweet tooth so this has also been easy
4. No alcohol - this one has been the hardest as I love a glass of wine at the weekends !
5. No carbs after 6 - I expected this one to be the hardest as I love a nice big bowl of pasta for dinner. Also, my husband is training for a marathon so he needs his carbs. Surprisingly, I have quite enjoyed having bolognaise with say, broccoli whilst my husband has it with pasta etc. And I do feel so much lighter and less sluggish the following morning.

The recipes are absolutely delicious, especially the chicken and mushroom risotto. It's a great book, thanks Anna.

I have been trying to lose a stone for literally 25 years (I am now 42) and I have just done it painlessly on this diet. I have tried EVERYTHING else and while some diets have worked, it has ALWAYS felt depressing (i.e not enough food) and tedious (weighing and measuring every morsel of food). Life really is too short for that.

This diet is healthy, filling and you don't go to bed every night starving! AND you get really good results - it's unbelievable.

If the biggest foodie like me can do this diet in the toughest months of the year December and January - then anybody can.
