1.0 out of 5 stars Bugs, bugs, BUGS!, 12 Jun 2007

Fun:3.0 out of 5 stars
I was a big fan of the original Ankh and I guess I could have been a fan of the semi-sequel if it wasn't for the fact that I cannot literally get to the end without the game disabling me to do so.

Heart of Osiris is completely bug ridden. I've had to restart the game twice because of bugs that have caused me to. Not to mention having to reload in places because the curser wouldn't change to exit a room, characters not appearing, or voices playing over each other.

Some of the character's voices have changed, including Thara (really cheesy American voice) and the Bazaar merchant who seems to have caught on a Scottish or Welsh accent or something.

The lighting effects make the locations seem bland and the character models somehow less animated than the previous game.

The dialog is the same standard but I would have expected improvements with the sequel as imminent. Azil sounds more tired this time round and the conversations themselves sound even more detached (like they recorded a single person in a room alone).

As far as I have gotten, the story hasn't picked up at all in the few hours I have played it (I might have gotten a lot further if it wasn't restarting of course).

The original was a breathe of fresh air but I cannot recommend this whilst it's so bug ridden. Having read reviews elsewhere I know that this is not a faulty disc but is bug ridden across different regions.

3.0 out of 5 stars Not a good sequel, 10 Aug 2007

This is quite a playable game. I have only found one bug that can be created if you try and pass objects to the character that is shown in the bottom right hand courner.
However the dialogue seems less well thought out than the original and it is possible to do actions out of sequence and then the conversations make little sense
