As mentioned by a previous commentator, this keyboard is configured for the USA and does not have a £ sign above the 3 key. Hopeless for anybody working in the UK.

This is an excellent product, but unfortunately I had to return it, as it is a US, not a UK standard keyboard. No mention is made of this in the product details.

I like the firm keys, so it doesn't get pressed by an accident. The keys are not raised so it's easy to 'slide' through the letters when typing.

I was given this keyboard by Anker to try, test and then keep in exchange for this honest review.

I have had a number of different types of keyboards in the past, as my main computers have been laptops and an Ultrabook since 2003. Laptops and especially Ultrabbooks come with small, compact and sometimes crowded keyboards, so getting a full size keyboard can help when you have a lot of typing to do.

This product is quite unique in that it is powered by solar energy. I have tested it in almost all situations from dark to sunny conditions and it performed just as well as the standard battery operated keyboards I have used in the past. This product is not a small compact keyboard, but a fully featured product which is long yet very thin and weighs virtually nothing. The keys have a lovely feel when depressed, which makes typing a breeze. I have noticed my typing errors have been reduced when using this keyboard. It is fully featured as you can control so many things from it, such as the opening of Outlook Express, computer sound levels, Windows Start button and the list goes on and on.

The set up required a little time. I plugged the Nano Receiver, which is attached to the underside of the keyboard, into the USB 3.0 port. Windows then downloaded the required software to allow connectivity. It took the computer about 3 minutes to find and then download the required drivers. Once downloaded, using the keyboard was very easy.

This is a super quality product, backed with an 18 month guarantee and superb customer service. I am so impressed by all the Anker products I have tried and this keyboard is wonderful.

Highly recommended.

I was a little skeptical about the advantages of a solar keyboard. Initially, I thought it a bit of a gimmick. I have used 4 wireless keyboard from different manufacturers in the past. Some take 2 AA batteries, some take 2 AAA batteries and all were really quite annoying. It is quite frustrating in the middle of an assignment to run out of batteries and have to change the batteries, find or charge some new ones.
The solar part of this keyboard is genius. Once charged battery is supposed to last up to 80hrs of uninterupted use!! I mean - who is going to work that hard in the dark! Also - since it doesn't have any added batteries, it means that the keyboard is much lighter than the competition.

Keyboard is full size and the keys have a nice feel and travel to them. It is solid and the device does not flex.

Who is it suitable for? Everyone.

Summary - great keyboard for anyone wanting a wireless keyboard. This is an awesome keyboard.

UPDATE (19 Sept 2013)
I have changed the star rating from 1 to 5 because of the supplier's actions. AnkerDirect Customer Support contacted me to see if they could resolve my problem. They have given me a full refund and have also promised to make the description clearer for UK buyers. I think this is excellent customer support and is to be commended.

Original Review:

FIRST THE GOOD NEWS
It arrived speedily, is a nice keyboard and installs easily. The instruction manual says keep the receiver within 3 feet. This will I guess vary depending on 'interference' and on my system it needed to be nearer, but that was no problem as I have plenty of USB extension cables.

THE BAD NEWS
If you are in the UK you will find you have issues.
[1] I found 6 keys where the printed character is different from the UK layout. For example the double quote prints as the 'at' sign (@), the back slash (to the right of equals) prints as hash (#).
[2] However there are 47 character keys in the main area of the Anker whereas my Logitech UK keyboard has 48.
[3] I have come to realise that the presence of a key (vertical bar and back slash) to the left of the Z key seems to indicate a UK keyboard. Yes, I can see this particular key is to the right of the equals key on the Anker but it prints tilde and hash. There is still one key less (compared with my new Logitech UK keyboard). Note a UK keyboard has a key (tilde and hash) below the right square bracket, next to Enter. The Anker does not.

Bottom line: one key is missing and the key-mapping of the Anker is wrong for the UK. Although I could, I guess, set the PC to a US key layout I don't really want to go that route.

The keyboard is therefore no use to me and was a waste of money. I have just bought a Logitech K800 (UK) and that is fine. So a lesson learnt for me. It's a shame because the keyboard is in other respects just fine. Hope these comments help UK buyers.

Because it does not work. I type just a couple of characters and runs out of power. It must be connected always to USB. So no wireless!!!!!
