I purchased this to use with a Windows tablet, so that the tablet could be used, in a desktop configuration, and charge at the same time from the 2.1A charging port. It worked well as a USB 3.0 hub but I couldn't get the tablet to draw more than ~600mA i.e. not the ~2A I was expecting and only enough to operate the tablet but not enough to charge it (at any acceptable speed).

I tried it with an Android tablet (the only other 2A/5V/Micro USB charging device I own) and with several cables including a 'Power Only' Micro USB cable.

I contacted Anker's support function and after an initial response to "try another cable" they stopped responding, so I got fed up and returned it.

Although not an issue for me, the hub has a soft power switch on the back that resets to 'Off' if the power supply is cut. This might be an issue for you if you want to place the hub out of sight.

Update:
The hub I chose to replace this (TeckNet HU42) works as expected in the same set up i.e. my Windows tablet draws 2A from the charging port with a normal micro USB cable.
Anker's support function responded after another 2 days with an email that was only concerned with making sure that I had purchased the hub from Anker Direct (the extent of their responsibility) and not offering any actual support.

I bought this to replace another supposed USB 3.0 hub, which gave nothing but problems, and it was worth every penny! Drivers installed with no fuss or hassle, and it's compact size means it's not intrusive even on a desk top. The fast charge port is a bonus too, charges my monstrous Note 2 in less than an hour!

Purchased this as a hub for an external HDD Hub (2 x 2Tb) and a midi keyboard. Worked perfectly out of the box. The additional power button means I can disconnect all drives etc, very easily without the hassle of disconnecting cables etc.

Recommended for any Mac user looking to add external storage.

Very disappointed with this product. Performance is intermittent with several of the points simply failing to register that there is a unit attached, from iOS devices to card readers and external hard drives. Tried it on different machines with different configurations to no avail. Very slow to recharge things like my iPad if it worked at all, despite re installation, powere offs/on etc.

I've purchased various other Anker products previously (A couple of USB 3 hubs, mobile battery pack), and the thing that makes them stand out is the quality of the products that they produce. This hub is no exception, and looks great on a black glass desk (Well, until the dust starts to encroach!). Plug and play and no issues thus far.

Linux 64 bit, modern hardware. A wireless mouse dongle plugged into the PC alongside the hub stopped working. Plugging the dongle into the hub and it works! Most odd. Queried with supplier, received replies such as

"Please be assured all our usb hubs are 3.0 not 2.0. When the dongle is plugged into the hub itself it works fine, it does not mean that the hub is 3.0. The note means wireless devices may not work correctly when they are plugged into the hub or ports next to the hub.
Any time you need us, we are here."

No I couldn't make sense of it either, but it's working, data rate fair so I'll keep it.

Bought this a couple of month ago, to get an access to the USB 3.0 plugs located at the back of my PC.
Had only 1 USB 3.0 device (WD Passport 1 To)

When plugged, at best the hub works for a while and then disconnects. Or it detects it but asks to format the hard drive. Or it doesn't see the device at all.
Works fine with USB 2.0.

Waited a few weeks so I can try with another USB 3.0 hard drive (Samsung M3 2 To). Same problem.

CONS
Disconnection, formating requests; Failure to detect USB device (unless it's USB 2.0)

PROS
work perfectly fine... with USB 2.0 devices

I will stay away from Anker from now on.
