Product Description

German-made CGI-animated children's feature. In Africa's Okavango Delta, all the animals are waiting for the annual flood, which should have come gushing down from the mountains weeks ago. As both their thirst and anxiety increase, cheeky meerkat Billy and his friend Socrates, a gentle mountain lion, decide to gatecrash an international summit at a luxury hotel resort in an attempt to discover where the precious water has gone. Along the way they meet various animals from all around the world, who have flocked to Africa in search of a better life, and enlist their help in their quest.

ANIMALS UNITED [2010] [3D Blu-ray + 2D Blu-ray] The Perfect Family Movie!

The film is set in Africa's Okavango Delta, and the main characters are a meerkat named Billy [James Corden] and a lion named Socrates [Stephen Fry]. The annual flood has failed to arrive in the Delta, water has become scarce and the native animals fiercely fight over it. Billy and Socrates set out to find more water, and during their quest they meet a rag-tag group of animals from across the world: a polar bear named Sushi [Bella Hudson], a kangaroo named Toby [Jason Donovan], a Tasmanian devil named Smiley [Pete Zarustica[, two Galápagos tortoises named Winifred [Vanessa Redgrave] and Winston [Jim Broadbent], and a chimpanzee named Toto [Jason Griffith], all of whom have had their lives ruined by humans in some way and have travelled to Africa. A German Constantin Film made CGI animated children's feature. It is based on the 1949 book of the same name by Erich Kästner.

Voice Cast: James Corden [Billy], Stephen Fry [Socrates], Andy Serkis [Charles the Cockerel], Dawn French [Angie], Vanessa Redgrave [Winifred], Jason Donovan [Toby], Omid Djalili [Bongo], Sean Schemmel [Biggie the Rhinoceros], Marc Thompson [Chino the Buffalo], Pete Zarustica [Smiley], Jason Griffith [Toto the Chimpanzee], Mischa Goodman [Junior], Bella Hudson [Sushi], Élisabeth Williams [Meerkat No.1], Jessica Owen [Meerkat No. 2], Erica Schroeder [The Polar Bear 'Sushi'], Tom Wayland [The Anteater 'Bob'], Veronica Taylor [The Mole], Ruben Lloyd [Vulture No.1], Jimmy Zoppi [Vulture No.2], Gary McHenley [Vulture No.3], Oliver Wyman [The Tasmanian Devil 'Smiley'], Oliver Green [Ken], Michael Glover [Mr.

Just want to clarify the details on the 3D version. There are 2 discs, and two 3D versions of the movie.

Disc One contains the normal 2D movie, plus a 3D version that requires a newer 3D compatible BluRay player and TV.

Disc Two has a 3D version that will work on (probably) any BluRay player and TV, and these require the use of red/blue glasses, of which, 2 are included within the case. The red/blue is much better than the red/green used over 20 years ago and allows for better colour definition and the 3D is pretty good. As I don't have a 3D TV, I can't compare it to the newer 3D version on Disc One.

Bought this as one of a few budget titles to sample the 3D capabilities of our first 3D TV. I wasn't expecting too much for the film, but was very pleasantly surprised.

It's an adaptation of 1949 German anti-war story of 'The Animals' Conference' by Erich Kastner, brought up to date with an ecological theme. I think a good compromise was reached, with a degree of 'Disneyfication' and holding true to the 'message' of the original.

I liked the characterisation and there's an excellent cast - Stephen Fry, Joanna Lumley, Dawn French, Omid Djalili, Jim Broadbent, Andy Serkis (Gollum inn Lord of the Rings) and Vanessa Redgrave to name a few - though I did find a very high-pitched James Corden a bit irritating as Billy the meerkat.

A bit sentimental in parts, I really enjoyed it, as did our children. A bonus was the excellent use of 3D throughout - for example butterflies which appeared to fly out of the screen towards the viewer and the hunter's long-barrelled rifle firing a tranquilliser dart out of the screen.

All of my 3 children enjoyed this film. We watched it on 3d blu-ray and some of the effects were really nice. My 9 year old daughter jumped on one occasion as something came flying towards her, and my 14 year old son really enjoyed a 3d bullet being fired. The animals looked really good in 3d, and although the film was a little slow to get going they want to watch it again as it got better and better.
My 17 year old gave it 3 and a half stars.
My 14 year old gave it 4
my daughter gave it 4 and so do I.
Good 3d effects, and a good message in this film about the way we treat the planet.
Joanna Lumley's voice was one my highlights!

I came across this Movie by chance Animals United [DVD]on TV one day and recorded it. The best thing I have ever done! My Grandson was 2years old at the time and to this day every time he visits he says "Animals 'nited nanny" Ive watched this film with him dozens of times, we never tire of it, its fabulous. He loves the animals, I love the humour and underlying sad truth of global warming (which obviously he doesn't understand yet) I purchased this DVD as I would hate to loose my recording of this film... it would be a disaster. Take my word for it; if your children love animals, they will love this film.

The kids 5yrs and nearly 3 years loved this dvd and wanted it again and again, As well as wide variety of animals has a message re global warming which I am sure will make more sense to the kids when they are a bit older. Both viewed in 2D as too young for 3D
but great Aunt enjoyed the 3D when the kids were'nt looking.
