Read by the author

"In their innocence and wisdom, in their connection to the earth and its most ancient rhythms, animals show us a way back to a home they have never left."

So says Susan Chernak McElroy, a cancer survivor who credits much of her triumph over terminal illness to the love of the animals in her life. From the courage of her dog, Keesha, who taught McElroy how to face challenges with grace and acceptance, to the uncanny victory over leukemia she witnessed in a foundling kitten, McElroy offers a unique and compelling chronicle of her healing journey. In Animals as Teachers and Healers, McElroy shares her story along with other true testaments from many other souls who have been touched, for a moment or for a lifetime, by the loving energies of animals.

This book really touched me. The stories are profound and touching beyond words. Animals are definitely "man's best friend" and it seems to be proven over and over again in this book, with each tale telling a compelling and poignent story of how an animal touched the life of someone in need. In my own perception of it......animals are true angels, put on this earth to help us and guide us along our own journeys. We should be thankful.

This book helps us all come to terms with our love and respect for animals. Susan has a knack for observing and understanding the "higher species." What a beautiful book indeed.

Tell it like it is! I am a family doctor who keeps a copy of this book in my office for my clients and I to enjoy. I am an animist who lives by the support of all life, and I have experienced the valuable gifts that plants and animals give each other. I recomend this book to my clients who need healing, especially from major illness or the loss of a loved companion. Enjoy!
