This book was given to me as a present and has brought me many hours of pleasure. The designs are not the easiest but this is understandable given the detail that Jayne incorporates. I especially like the Tiger design and the one of the Bernese Mountain Dog. What a magnificent looking dog he is! Since receiving this book I have bought two others and find them just as captivating. I am sure that anyone buying Animals In Cross-stitch will not be disappointed.

Very detailed depictions of animals,

This book has some really beautiful projects, with very realistic and detailed portraits of many different kinds of animals. Projects in particular that appealed to me were the first project, which was a reproduction of a cave painting, and the gibbon hanging from a tree.There are very detailed charts, with DMC color suggestions, and beautiful color photographs for inspiration. There are also many ideas for how to finish the projects and make them into lovely gifts. I thought this was a wonderful book, one I would highly recommend to any needleworker who loves animals! 9 of 9 people found the following review helpful:

A great book for Cross stitchers. Many images reflecting a real life image of several animals, including the walking tiger as on the cover, elephant, zebra, ducks and other birds and some smaller animals as well. Different designs in various sizes make for a well balanced book for projects

This book has a variety of Jayne's excellent charts. Some large: a cheetah with cubs, a tiger, domestic cats. Some small: butterflies, bees, dragonflies. There are many birds: swallows, hummingbirds, macaws, a beautifully detailed pheasant in ferns, and a brilliantly colored rooster in a patch of beaded Queen Anne's lace. The colored charts are done differently than the traditional 'each square has a color and/or symbol'. Each group of squares of the same color is outlined, then only a few numbers indicating the thread color are within the outline. It seems to make the charts less confusing to the eye and there will be less time searching for your place in the chart. All in all, another favorite book.
