Product Description

The Veterinary Record

"The artwork is striking" --This text refers to an out of print or unavailable edition of this title.

Review

"The book itself is again a masterpiece for the veterinary surgeon with well explained text, drawings and tables. The use of different symbols and colours in the text makes things very clear.

I was please to see the more recent orthopaedic procedures such as TPLO, TWO and TTA for the repair of cranial cruciate ligaments being so well described. A lot of attention is also spent on analgesia, with clear tables and dosages being provided.

Regarding the e-dition or online: this is a great improvement! Excellent features include:
-good searching system, very fast
-good quality pictures (they can be stored)
-frequent updates (weekly)
-reference links to PubMed with access to the full-text articles
-videoclips (good quality images)
-aftercare instructions
-interactive fracture planner
-POCKETConsult TM for PDA
-case presentations
-and many other useful features

veterinary surgeons (those just staring as well as more experienced surgeons) who are really interested in what they are doing during surgery, should have this book in their library.

.It is worth every Euro!?

Superb 1 Nov 2003
Format:Hardcover
A superb surgical text. Unusually for surgical textbooks, it is ideal for both new graduate and experienced surgeon. In many ways this is a "complete" textbook - it includes detailed information on not only the diagnosis and surgical correction of every condition likely to be encountered in general practice, but also the pathophysiology, medical management and post-op consideration/complications. the diagrams are superb (and easy to follow especially if, like me, you like to have the book open at the relevant page during a particularly complicated procedure!) Having bought many many expensive textbooks during my years as a student and 10 years in practice this is the first one I would gladly have paid double for. I have referred to it countless times and have yet to find it lacking in any way. It will take you from your first bitch spey to your surgery certificate and beyond - buy it!

I am a final year student and use this book constantly while on my surgical rotations and when seeing practise - as well as this, almost every vet surgery I've ever been to has this on their shelves and use it regularly, no matter how long the vets have been qualified. It covers every topic from how to fold/unfold drapes correctly to understanding neurosurgery - as well as pathophysiology of underlying conditions, pre and post operative considerations, anaesthesia and analgesia. It's one of the few books that I would recommend to EVERY student/vet, no matter what their interests are.
