Very enjoyable. Liz Brownlee's love of animals shines through in her delightful, well-crafted poems. The facts that accompany each poem have been carefully researched, making this a treasury of information,too.

It's not every book of poems that crosses over the grown-up/child divide - but this is one that does so beautifully. For those who love the animal world in all its diversity it contains a wealth of delight. Elegant poetry sits alongside interesting facts, enhanced by charming illustrations. The subjects of Liz's gentle poems are endangered species, as the subtitle 'Poems on a disappearing World' suggests. Read, enjoy, learn. Then read the magically evocative words again and again: a book to treasure.

Stunning. Excellent and accessible poems - often moving but never sentimental. Lots of interesting information - although not preachy. Gorgeous illustrations and design. Buy this book for children. Buy it for grown-ups. Buy it for anyone interested in animals or who enjoys poetry. Buy it for your school library. Just buy it.
