This is a useful and helpful guide which helps the reader to find a number of products which are vegan. However, there are some changes which could be made which would make this book a lot more user-friendly. Firstly, products are listed under the manufacturer rather than the brand name and so if you only know the brand name of the product you are looking for, it can be very difficult to find. An example of this is Original Source shower gel and bath foam. If you look for 'Original Source' you will not find it. Instead, Original Source is under the heading 'PZ Cussons UK Ltd'. Not knowing that PZ Cussons made this product, it took me a length of time to find.
The second issue is that whilst the guide tells you the manufacturer of certain vegan products, it does not tell you which shops stock the product, so for many products it was really not much help. I still don't know where to buy them.
Finally, the guide does not give many supermarket and chain-store brands and since most of us shop at these stores it would have been really helpful to have a more detailed section for these chain-store brands, and brands not mentioned like Superdrug, Morrisons, Holland & Barrett etc. I realise that by doing so the book would have been much thicker so if this was not possible, it would be very helpful for the publisher to bring out a sister guide called 'Animal Free Shopper - supermarket and chain-store brands'. That is a book I would definitely purchase.
As it is, by omiting so many brand products from supermarkets and chain-stores a multitude of vegan products are missed out and consequently shopping as a vegan is a lot more complex than it could be.
